5.0 out of 5 stars poignant documentary, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Carpati: 50 Miles, 50 Years [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a poignant documentary of life among the remaining Jews in the Carpathians. It has outstanding traditional Jewish and Gypsy music and is interesting for showing the connections between the two communities.

4.0 out of 5 stars enticing, March 16, 2009
This review is from: Carpati: 50 Miles, 50 Years [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The video provides the viewer with a rare view of a forgotten place in Eastern Europe, The Carpatia region, which used to be the home of a large Jewish community. It is a sad documentary of a lost past, but interesting in showing the connection between its Jewish and Gypsy minorities.
The very enjoyable Klezmer music which was adopted by the Gypsies after the 2nd World War, was in fact the signature music of the Jews living in this Carpatia region;-today's Ukraine.
