Biography

The Carpenters were the US-born Grammy-winning duo whose string of easy-listening hits in the 70s, including “(They Long To Be) Close To You”, “We've Only Just Begun” and “Goodbye To Love”, put them among the best-selling acts in music.

Brother and sister Richard and Karen Carpenter first tried to launch their musical career in the mid 1960s but it was not until 1969 that they were signed to A&M… Read more in Amazon's Carpenters Store

Editorial Reviews

Out of print in the U.S.! Digitally remastered edition of this 1971 album from the American Soft Pop duo. When siblings Richard and Karen Carpenter released their debut album in 1969, nobody could predict the enormous success they would achieve throughout the next decade. With Karen's angelic voice and Richard's stellar arrangements, The Carpenters became a musical force to be reckoned with. Their popularity spread from the U.S. to Europe, Japan, Australia and beyond. Even 25+ years after Karen's death, they are one of the most recognizable Pop duos in music history, and deservedly so. The Carpenters features 10 tracks including the hits 'Rainy Days And Mondays', 'For All We Know' and 'Superstar'. Spectrum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weird, but in a good way, May 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Carpenters (Audio CD)
This album is quite simply incredible. However, what is more incredible is that the import of this CD is cheaper than the one sold across this country. That is rare and certainly weird.

5.0 out of 5 stars the third album, May 28, 2008
By
This review is from: Carpenters (Audio CD)
Yes, this is the Carpenters third album, the first being Ticket To Ride or Offering (to those purists among us), the second being Close To You. I am a long time Carpenters fan from way back, and this is among their finest work. Superstar is on this one. The album, when it was an album, had the cover photo that could be stood up like a framed picture. I miss the album days, but the Carpenters' music never disappoints.
