Thank you Amazon for standing behind what you sell. Amazon gets an A+ on this sale. Carrera, unfortunately, does not.

Overall, this was a pretty fun toy, except that the cars absolutely would not stay on the track, the guard rails kept falling off, and durability was extremely poor. We had thoroughly done our research, and considered Carrera a premium brand. The price was also premium. A race set that started breaking on the very first day of ownership doesn't deserve to be called premium. I purchased it hoping my son and I could play with it for many years to come. After 3 days, it was time to send it back. Perhaps the 1:32 scale sets have better longevity? If the 1:49 sets are going to be overly fragile, there should be a note on the box.

Here are some notes I took when boxing it up to send back:

1) Special clips necessary to attach tracks. The clips need a tool to remove them for dissasembly. When the clips are removed bits of plastic flake off, so they won't last long.

2) One of the slots on one track, where the clips attaches, was broken out of the box.

3) The police car has cool flashing LEDs on top. Unfortunately one of them became intermittent several days after the set was opened.

4) The motor on the police car started spinning freely soon after use. So the motor no longer transferred power effectively to the wheels. Result: Car became useless.

5) The cars will not stay on the track, even with speed greatly reduced. When 1 car leaves the track, other cars tend to fly off immediately. Perhaps the power supply increases voltage due to reduced loading, resulting in higher speeds for the remaining cars?

6) Many parts are fragile: Guardrail supports - 1 broke within 1 day. Bridge support height adjustors. All broke during assembly. Yes, they were properly assembled.

I am looking for a replacement set. Carrera is no longer on our list. Too bad.
