Well, it's 10:00 am Christmas morning and one of the cars dosen't work. My son and I never even got in one race. This certainly isn't a "plug and play" kind of track. There are a lot of adjustments that have to made just to be able to get the cars around the track without them either stopping or flying off the track. Then after all that is worked out one of the cars stops working!!!

I assembled track in about an hour. On Christmas day we had some difficulty getting cars to stay on track but with a little patience, by the second day we were able to drive the cars around the track smoothly and without them flying off the track. My 6-year-old has played with it for hours and it works beautifully. One thing though: I bought 2 Carrera Go! cars in addition to the ones that come with the set and we have found that one of the cars from the set works well, and one doesn't. So we are using one of the cars from the boxed set, and one of the extra cars that I bought ($14.00) and they are the favorite, best running cars. I think having an extra car or 2 will help avoid the problem first reviewer wrote about, although it does seem a shame to have to spend more money. I would definitely recommend this slot car set.

This the first such track I had purchased in many, many years, so maybe I'm a little out of touch. My impression was that this was a decent starter set. Maybe if you want to drive people away from slot car racing....

It took quite a while to set up, which isn't a deal-breaker in my opinion, but the finished product was just shoddy. One car took some adjusting to get it to work, and the other didn't work at all. I got the stereotypical runaround from customer service, and finally gave up. The kids took turn with one car a handful of times, then the whole thing went on a shelf (with many pieces breaking during disassembly) only to be discarded at the next rummage sale. I definitely would not buy this brand again.

THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST CHOICE I HAVE EVER MADE! TO ASSEMBLE THE TRACK THE PARTS VERY DIFFICULT TO JOIN!!! THE TRACK STAYS PRACTICALLY IN THE AIR IT DOESN'T STAY ON THE BASES. THE CARS DON'T STAY ON THE TRACK THEY VERY UNSTABLE. FOR ALL OF THESE REASONS I DEFINATELY DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY TO BUY THIS!!!!!!!!

This is my first slot car set. It took me about 2 to 3 hours to get the tracks in place. I enjoyed very much that part. The cars part and racing: At first I had a terrible time trying to make the cars run non-stop because of the brushes conecting to the tracks. I also had to take apart both controls because they would stop working properly. After some basic tunning of the controls, they worked fine.I would say that the controls could be of much better quality. Looks that this type of sets is for begginers. I would go digital on the next car set , they are more expensive but have much better quality in all aspect. Also, the cars are more realistic and come with lights. (Digital sets )

This was a great purchase. Arrived quickly and as advertised. It was important to get the A T& T car as our son works for them so our Grandson was pretty thrilled.

I bought this track as a gift for my 6 year old nephew. During Christmas, we had 4yr-36yr old boys racing around -- so it is truly good for all ages.

The youngsters don't have to worry about throttle control -- and the more skillful can have fun with the turbo boost button while the car hits the loop.

I bought Carrera Go Car Set for my 7 year old son. It took me about an hour or less to put together (instructions weren't to clear if your new in this), but overall it was easy to set up. At first the cars wouldn't go around, but then my son and I got the hang of it and we were racing with no problem. He really loves it!

Bought this set for my son. I was disappointed at how little (or negative) progress has been made in slotcar sets, upon using this. It's tedious to put together. The instructions are marginal and not linear (Step 1 logically procedes step 2). The loops work but are wobbly. My big disappointment is that I can't mount it to a board. There are no holes in the track or the jackposts. The posts are rinky-dink and constantly getting bumped / tipped. Once the track is built you can't slide it over 2 inches without having to re-setup all of the jack posts again.
Then there are the cars. Feeling a little uneasy about having only two cars, I picked up some SCR (F1 style) cars at target (which are 50% cheaper). This turned out to be a good move as the SCR cars perform much better than the Carrera cars. It would have been a frustrating morning if we had been stuck only having the Carrera cars which are now gathering dust while the SCR cars get all of the use.
The annoying thing to me is that slot cars have been around for 50 years, this should be a refined product. The plugs are cheap and vague, it all is marginal at best. My childhood AFX track (circa 1978) would have kicked this set's butt.

After 2 hours we could not get the cars to go around the track even once. Don't waste your money. Now I know why it was on sale for $68 at Toys-R-Us.
