5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ
Very good book. This was the 1st DP novel I've read that was NOT set in Texas or with cowboy-type characters. I was worried it wouldn't draw me in like the previous books, but I was VERY wrong. This was an excellent book. I absolutely loved the characters and the storyline. There was some very passionate moments in the book that keep me reading until I was done with...

3.0 out of 5 stars not as great as was hoping
I am a long time fan of Mrs.Palmer but was kinda disappointed in this book. It didn't have the smooth dialog and story most of her books have, like it was rushed in being written. I believe it could have been " fleshed out" and been a much better finished product.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite, by far, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Carrera's Bride (Bestselling Author Collection) (Silhouette Special Editions) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my favorite DP book--Marcus is my all-time favorite DP hero (there's a 4-way tie for second place: Cash Grier, Micah Steele, Matt Caldwell & Colby Lane), he's a complex man--a reformed gangster w/ a reputation that intimidates even the bad guys, a loving concerned uncle to his brother's orphaned children, a good friend to those he cares about but still a dangerous man to cross. I first encountered Marcus in Renegade & liked him immediately so I was eager to read this book. Delia Mason is a sweet, courageous young woman & she & Marcus are magic together. I like Mr. Smith, too & would like to know more about him.

The only problem I had w/ the story was that Marcus & Delia end up in bed together too soon, they've only known each other one day, but there's strong chemistry between these two & they're soul mates, so even though the encounter seems to be rushing things, their intimacy & Delia's pregnancy are important to the story. Their bond is a strong one & Marcus goes to great lengths to keep Delia safe from his enemies. Even when tragedy strikes & he loses his memory he still wants to protect her.

I love this book for several reasons--the deep love between the main characters, the humor, even the sad parts. There are some truly heart-breaking moments. While Marcus has amnesia he doesn't remember who Delia is, he knows she saved his life & lost her baby in the process & it bothers him, then when he remembers & realizes the baby was his it breaks his heart-& mine too. Then, in the sweetest gesture I think I've ever seen in a romance novel, he makes a memorial quilt for the baby & takes it to Delia. Their reunion is bittersweet because of ther lost child but all ends well.

I've re-read this book several times & highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, February 8, 2009
This review is from: Carrera's Bride (Bestselling Author Collection) (Silhouette Special Editions) (Mass Market Paperback)
Diana Palmer never fails to entertain. Carrera's Bride has everything. Romance, Action, suspence and drama. Carrera is not your average hero. He could easily be someone very unlikable but, this only makes him more realilistic. I have read many of Ms. Palmers other stories and he was mentioned previously. Diana introduces side characters in a way that makes you crave for their stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bride's dilemma, July 2, 2008
By
This review is from: Carrera's Bride (Bestselling Author Collection) (Silhouette Special Editions) (Mass Market Paperback)
First let me say I am a die-hard Diana Palmer Fan.
Marcus Carrera is a big teddy bear pretending to be a bad guy. Delia Mason is a sweet young woman at a very low point of her life. Her mother just died, after a long illness, and she is spending time with her older sister to help get over the loss.
What do they have in common? Both are quilters.
She gets attacked in Carrera's casino by a man her brother-in-law fixed her up with.
One thing lead to another and Marcus got Delia pregnant.
It turns out that her older sister Barb is really her mom, and Barney her brother-in-law is really her dad.
Marcus almost got shot, but Delia stopped the man, only to get knocked over the railing of the casino.
Marcus also feel over the rail.
Marcus lost his memory. He didn't know Delia, or that she had just lost her baby.
Ms Palmer pulls this one out of the fire just in time.
I was ready to throw it away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely LOVED it!, July 10, 2008

This is up there with my Palmer favorite's. Palmer dared to be different with Marcus's character. It just completely sucked me in. Loved reading about some of the other familiar characters. Just love Mr. Smith. I hope there's a book about him.

2.0 out of 5 stars carrera's bride, December 18, 2011
This book was a great read until Marcus lost his memory after that it all went downhill for me. I was so irritated by the end that I wanted to slap them. first off who the hell goes to a stranger and says your not my type and your plain and you dont dress nice..especially after she saved your life (even if she hadn't) that was just stupid and rude. the explaination that i was protecting you even during amnesia was just ridiculous, not romentic! Another thing that irritated me was that she went to bed with him on the first date..She had known him for less than 24 hours!
Then there's Barb calling her 'baby' after every sentence. it was too annoying. Barb was rich and always bought stuff for Dalia but at end she says I dont have anything fancy to wear..her parents are millionaires and she dosnt have decent cloths.right! She whips out her credit card and buys 6 outfits on the spot but she got no decent cloths!!
The ending was rushed. Didnt like how the guys in law enforcement got together to plan the wedding..that was only amusing with the Hart brothers. Hated that the guest list was named and it was all rich and famous ppl! Jacobsville is full of all these rich people but ppl were taking pics of the limo..seriously? There were many other things that I found annoying but I think I'll stop here.
The quilt was at the end was the best part. loved that!
It enjoyed first half of the book but it got way too irritating by chapter 10. It left a bad taste in my mouth, but being a huge Diana Plamer fan I'll ignore this book and move on to another one of her great stories.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why is 'innocent' synonymous with 'stupid' ?, June 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love Diana Palmer's earlier books & I have overlooked her sometimes way too dopey, doe-eyed heroines. But come on! I got this book because of the good reviews and am halfway through it and am ready to throw this heroine out the window! I wonder how she even knows how to convert oxygen to carbon dioxide! "What's a reggae?" And the hero is no better "Don't be afraid to say you don't know what something is!" or my favorite "You are beautiful to me" which we all know means 'yeah, you're a dog but I like you anyways'. Thanks, but no thanks. Sorry Diana, but I'm giving up on you.
