In compiling this book, dictionary information was taken from The Hub, The New York Coach-Maker's Magazine and many carriage books from the past. The book is arranged in alphabetical order with many illustrations. The different types of carriages, types of springs, etc., are defined and illustrated. Many types of harness are explained with the correct name for each of the harness parts. Trimmings and hardware used in the trimming of carriages are also illustrated. It has pictures of the types of coaching horns along with the sheet music to play them. The meaning of the different coaching calls are shown. I'm sure you will find a vast amount of history and useful information. After you have read this book, I know you'll consider it to be an essential part the of your carriage book library

I had wanted this book for a long time it wasn't cheap. I was at the time getting ready to restore a Meadowbrook cart.
I wanted the book as a reference. Well that never happened, but I did go through the book and read upon some of the carriages. Then I looked up the author! Wow if you want to read about a crime look him up. Very bizzare.
Anyhow this is a very good reference and I would reccomend it.
I will be selling mine because I no longer have horses.
