good resource for adopting families or those who've been adopted, August 30, 2005
This review is from: Carried Safely Home: The Spiritual Legacy of an Adoptive Family (Paperback)
This book has applications for any Christian in understanding his/her own adoption as God's child. I plan to recommend this book to my friends, especially those that are adopting children into their family or who have been adopted into a family themselves. My favorite aspect of the book is the author's honesty about her own faith struggles in waiting on the Lord throughout the adoption process.

getting to the heart of adoption, August 29, 2005
This review is from: Carried Safely Home: The Spiritual Legacy of an Adoptive Family (Paperback)
This book gets to the heart of the issue of adoption and, at the same time, tugs on your heart. The author uses her family's narratives to bring human reality to the adoption process. She does a great job of shining light on the process of adopting from Asia and on the struggles of the heart.
Not all families will enjoy the loving support that the author's family had, but this book will help all who are involved with adoption--the adopting family, the extended family, those close friends and others around them, and even those involved in the administration of adoptions. It will help them to process emotions felt, by them or by those around them.
But, most importantly, this book brings God in to the picture. The truths learned in His Word about His love for those He has created, including the fatherless, bring the reader closer to HIS heart! The author opens up her heart to the reader, revealing how God walked along side of her and her family during the two adoptions.
Carried Softly Home is the story of the Wongs, but it's a story that is shared by many. In this book, many will find that God's love is a source of joy and comfort during the precious process of adoption.

Draw Close to God in Your Adoptive Journey, November 4, 2006
This review is from: Carried Safely Home: The Spiritual Legacy of an Adoptive Family (Paperback)
I can not recommend this book highly enough for Christian adoptive parents. The author describes her journey, and that of her family, through the adoption of two Vietnamese boys. She details God's development of her character through the waiting and uncertainties of the process, and shares about what she learned about such topics as prayer, fear, waiting, God's goodness, pain, and worship. Mrs. Wong's story has been a chief means of encouragment and exhortation for my husband and I as we have felt the refining fire in our own hearts during our own adoptive journey.
