About the Author

"Victor A. Abeyta was born on his parent's homestead in Carrizo, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, on September 18, 1937. He attended school in Blanco through the ninth grade, and graduated from Aztec high school in 1956. He attended the University of New Mexico, graduating with a degree in Latin American Studies in 1968. He joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1969. During his career he served in Mexico, Portugal, Uruguay, Spain, Israel, Estonia, El Salvador, Colombia and Washington, D.C. His foreign languages are Spanish and Portuguese. He retired from government service in 2001. He currenly resides in Moscow, Russia, with his Foreign Service spouse and their 10 year old daughter."
