Bobby Caldwell at his best !,
By Torquemada "dunlopilo" (Atlanta, Georgia USA / Madrid, Spain.) - See all my reviews

I have almost everything this man has released, and even have a couple of his records signed personally by him. All things compared, this is probably his best album. All the tracks are high quality, and the collaborations by Toto musicians (Jeff -everybody REALLY misses you- and Steve Porcaro, David and Marty Paich Steve Lukather) are top level. That's why tracks such as "Jamaica" are so unique. Also check out collaborations from Marc Russo on sax and Jimmy Haslip on bass (both from the Yellowjackets). A MUST in your collection if you like the best combination of pop soul/soft rock.

Jamaica,
By chandler school (Pasadena, CA) - See all my reviews

In a concert, Bobby Caldwell introduced "Jamaica" as a song he wrote in tribute to Bob Marley. While the song is hardly a reggae infused karaoke sign along - listening to it gives you a definite imagery of how serene and peaceful the atmosphere must be to have inspired such a mellow composition.Over the years, I have only heard maybe two or three songs from "Carry On"... It's a great album in typical Bobby Caldwell fashion and sounds even better with time.

This album is one of Caldwell's early masterpieces!,

This review is from: Carry on (Audio CD)
When I heard "Jamaica", the first single off of this album, I immediately ran out and purchased a copy of "Carry On". Much to my surprise the whole album possessed the R&B-Jazz fusion sound I was listening to at the time. Caldwell's vocals also weave in and out of his stylish Latin and Reggae laiden tunes complimenting there perfection. The imagery of his lyricism is captivating on "Jamaica" and even more thought provoking on "Catwalk". I am glad to see that this release is now available on CD. It was slightly ahead of it's genre then and it is essential to the audiophile who collects recordings that mark a transition in R&b musics style and progression.

One of the finest pieces around,
By Seabiscuit (Hamilton, Bermuda) - See all my reviews

Being in Bermuda, finding these titles are impossible. But I had to replace my Caldwell CD's because of use. Without a doubt, Bobby Caldwell and his interpretations of his music are without equal. One of the finest in the industry. You can keep Madonna (et al), I'll take Caldwell.

It just doesn't get better than this. The Timelines are fabulous and the two big band albums are just soooo great. I never get tired of that marvelous gift of a voice with which Bobby was blessed.
