This is an excellent reference book. The photos are fabulous and it's like going to a museum seeing all the beautiful lucite purses. It is the perfect book for a collector!

As a new colector of lucite purses, I was stunned to find so many never-before seen bags in this amazing book. I own about 25 now, but found only 5 of mine in this book. Perhaps mine are more common (although some of mine are pretty amazing, too, at least to me.) I wonder where this lady gets all these. I tried buying them on ebay, but found the results disappointing, lucite bags arriving with undisclosed damage, what a hassle. I've been buying at antique fairs and also from a couple of websites with very good results, lately having found a new website at [...] which has great purses and lots of cool photos. If I ever get to New York, I would love to visit the shop this author owns. It must be wonderful. The infomation in this book has been most helpful to me and I use it both as a reference and a book to drool over. I would recommend it to anyone who loves vintage purses.

This is a beautiful book with a pristine design and detailed photography. The content is invaluable. Highly recommend for collectors of this lost art.

Carry Me! 1950's Lucite Handbags by Janice Berkson is the type of beautifully photographed book that appeals to serious collectors as well as stylish fashionistas looking to build their fashion library. The author dedicates less than a dozen pages of the 206 page book to reference information describing the history of various lucite handbags allowing the pictures of these sculptural handbags take center stage.

The lucite handbags featured in the book are lovely little works of art incorporating everything from carved designs to dazzling gems to simply elegant silhouettes that show off the materials to the greatest effect. I don't collect lucite handbags myself, I collect fashion books. As much as I appreciate the exquisite designs of the handbags featured in this book, if you're on a budget it's a heck of a lot cheaper and easier to build a collection of fashion books than it is to collect vintage fashion bags.
