Editorial Reviews

Worthwhile is a melodic hardcore band based out of San Francisco, CA. Within 3 weeks of self releasing their album Carry On Kid, InVogue Records signed them and re-released the record re-mixed / re-mastered by Jay Maas (Have Heart, Defeater, Polar Bear Club) and the record is produced by Sam Pura (Touche Amore, Title Fight, Man Overboard).

Seriously, what's not to love about some Christ-centered hardcore punk? With a sound similar to bands like Life In Your Way and Conveyer, Worthwhile delivers honest and encouraging messages with that heavy hardcore punk sound that I love so much. Favorite song = Unlovable.

"My personal favourite is the tenth track, "Unlovable". Unlovable is, undoubtedly, one of the strongest tracks on Carry On Kid. It's a very upbeat song, the riffs and leads are great, and the drumming is outstanding. Unlovable also features a very good breakdown, which is kind of unexpected, but pulled off very well."

I just want to write a quick review, since no one has yet. Worthwhile makes some very intense, passionate music. Their background is in straight up pop punk. But this album takes a step more into the melodic hardcore direction and incorporates a lot of scream-singing into the vocals. Lyrically, this album has some of the best I've heard in a while: very insightful, catchy, and totally describe some of the things I've been feeling lately. This band touches a chord of pure emotion and it really makes for a experience. It's bright, genuine, and relatable. Check them out if you're a fan of Close Your Eyes, Beartooth, or Life in Your Way.

My favorite tracks are Vagrant, Unloveable, Messy Masterpiece, and Melody Save Me. They quote hymns, drive on fast rhythms, slow down for the occasional chant/breakdowny moment, and are really just a lot of fun to listen to. Some of the professional reviews may say this band is still borrowing elements from other bands and have yet to find their true sound; I don't know. To me, it sounds great and I can't think of any band that does it quite like Worthwhile did here. Truly good stuff.
