5.0 out of 5 stars Real Country Music July 17, 2001
Format:Audio CD
I love many different types of music including country, and I have really been saddened the last decade to see the genre disappear. At least it has in Nashville. Everything (with a few exceptions) seems to be really awful pop. Thank God country music survives with a few outstanding musicians in Texas. In my opinion, Pat Green is probably the best of these musicians, and Carry On is a great album. Every song (except "Louisiana Song" which he admits is a departure) is real country music. All have something to say. All are well arranged and well played. "Whiskey," "Ruby's Two Sad Daughters," "You Gotta Know", "Rusty Old American Dream," and "Washington Avenue" are all really solid country songs. "Carry On" is a perfect song with a lot of wisdom. "Crazy" is a beautiful love song. My favorite "Take Me Out to the Dancehall" is a love song which could stand alongside any classic country song. Pat Green's music really captures life in rural Texas and in the rest of small-town America. His music is what happens in everyday life. Green's sound is also based on what you have always been able to hear at local dancehalls, and it is so refreshing in constrast with most of todays modern music. Hopefully, more people will begin to listen to Pat Green's music, and country can be saved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pat Green at his best. March 1, 2000
Format:Audio CD
Pat Green's best so far! If you loved his past work, this will one will never leave your CD player. Pat won't be a "Texas" Artist for very long. Buy this one and you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carry On Is An AWESOME Album July 5, 2000
Format:Audio CD
With Carry On, Pat Green continues to record spectactular, good-ol' Texas music. His newest album reveals the pride of Texans and what it means to grow up in such a great state. I highly recommend this album; it's one-of-a-kind!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD but ealier stuff is better! April 16, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Don't get me wrong. Carry on is great and has some great songs but a couple of his songs lack the rythme and pace of his ealier stuff. If you are new to Pat try George's Bar or Billy Bob's first and then move on to his newest! If your a true fan, you'll love it regardless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carry On Pat April 12, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
It can't be stated enough, this CD proves that Pat Green has become a true singer/song writer and not just another Texas guitar pounder. Give him a few more years and he'll be mentioned in the same breath as Willie, although he would say that could never happen... it will.

4.0 out of 5 stars Come on, now... June 23, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
True, this may not be as good as some of his other stuff, but I don't think it deserves just one star. With Nashville ... the only thing else to turn to, I'll stick with Pat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Texas Music at its Very Best June 26, 2000
Format:Audio CD
This album is to Pat's career what Hey You was to Jack Ingram's career. Green has grown as a song writer and as a musician, and this album definately is his best studio effort yet. The songwriting is purely Texas--Whitmans "Ruby's Two Sad Daughters" mentions high school football and Dairy Queen, whats more Texas than THAT? If you like Pat, then youll love this cd--this cd gets a spin every time I get into the car. If you like overproduced, top 40, Nashville anti-country-sounds-more-like-pop music, then you may be disappointed.
In Pat's words at a Waco show earlier this year--"I dont give a ____ if your tractor IS sexy, I aint gonna write no song about it." This cd is a must have--thats for sure.

I own many of Pat's albums and this is one of my favorites. It is a departure from earlier albums about drinking beer and getting stoned. Read more

Pat Green's album "Carry On" isn't his best work, but a nice album none the less. I agree with other reviewers who say it doesn't deserve the bad rating that it is getting. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great
Pat Green continues to turn out quality songs. I like most of the songs on this album, and so will most Pat Green fans. I think this album lacks a good mixture of songs though. Read more
