Big Waste of Money!!!, March 21, 2003
Unfortunately, I can't give this product 0 STARS, which is the only reason I gave it one star!
I made two big mistakes with this carrier. The first was that I bought it. The second was that in my eagerness to prepare for the arrival of my daughter, I washed the carrier so now I can't return it.
My first disappointment was the design of this sling. The way it's worn with your arms through the two holes feels very unnatural and uncomfortable...and this may sound vain, but it feels "dorky"...very UN-classy!
Even though I was disappointed with the design, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, when I tried to put my baby in it in the hospital, both of us got very, very frustrated. Perhaps she's too small for it. She just got lost inside it and I got very upset because she started fussing immediately. I was ready to throw the darn thing in the trash. Instead I gave it to my parents to take home and I'm now writing this review after giving the sling one more shot. It still doesn't provide the support both my daughter and I need. She's now 2 1/2 weeks old and still doesn't fit comfortably in the sling, even with adjustments.
I tried the sling with both arms through the holes, which was a complete disaster. It was awkward putting her inside it and then once inside, her head was scrunched up to her chest, no matter how I positioned her. I then tried it with just one arm through a hole and one arm in front (more in the sling style) and that was just as awkward. I finally tried it in true sling-style, not using the armholes at all and draping it over one shoulder...that seemed the best method as far as my comfort was concerned, however, my daughter became increasingly fussier as I tried to position her inside the carrier.
I just gave up because her head was never supported properly (I couldn't get her to a place where her chin wasn't pressed up against her chest). I really need something to carry her around in, both for the comfort of my hands/wrists/back, as well as for the discretion a sling-carrier provides for breastfeeding.
I think I'll try another brand of true sling-style carriers and use this one as a dusting rag.

i LOVE this product! my boys are 18 mths apart. with my first boy, i had a front carrier and it was horrible. with my second boy, i bought this sling. i LOVE it! my hands are free to help my toddler with everyday tasks and my infant feels cuddled all the same!

it's easy to wash however if you don't have your baby 'just right' in the carrier, she'll be lopsided and crooked, more so for small babies - the sides curl in over the baby's face or she'll be almost face down - after awhile you're back will start to "shift" - i found myself leaning over more - it's not ergonomically correct if you have back problems or had an epidural (with a lot of re-sticks) - the front baby carriers are a lot better - BABY BJORN is expensive but worth every penny - it' durable, washable, easy to use (difficult to figure it out when putting it on but you eventually figure it out) - you can get your baby in and out of the carrier with minimal movement - i had a collically baby who fell asleep in it and was put in the crib quietly without being pulled, jerked, or yanked
