Product Description

Editorial Review

Though they are one of the oldest baby-carrying devices in existence, slings have recently become a hot item. And it's not hard to see why. Like most slings, this pullover model from Leachco allows Mom to carry baby close while keeping her arms free. It's machine washable and designed in simple black with snazzy faux leopard skin trim. Once inside, babies weighing up to 30 pounds can ride either on the hip or cradled in the front. Drawstrings at the top and bottom of the unit help adjust the fit and the top string can be used to close off the top of the sling, allowing for discreet breastfeeding. Because it's designed to be worn like a shirt, one size does not fit all, so make sure you shop accordingly. --John Moe

Product Description

Baby shows up, and it seems like you'll never do anything with two hands again—at least until you sling on this soft, comfortable carrier. Made with an innovative 2-shoulder design and soft, thick fabric, it's a smart and secure way to keep Baby close and your hands free. Easy to put on, the one-piece design eliminates rings or buckles and nestles your infant across the front; great for walks or errands as well as light chores around the house. Adjustable upper and lower drawstrings create the perfect fit. Two sizes are available depending on the adult's height and weight. Small/medium size fits adults up to 5'6" tall and or less than 150 lb. Large/extra-large size fits adults 5'7" or taller and over 150 lb. 65% polyester/35% cotton cover with 100% polyester fill. Machine wash. For newborn to 30-lb. toddlers. Made in USA.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Waste of Money!!!, March 21, 2003

This review is from: Carry On Sling Carrier - Large/Extra-Large (Baby Product)
Unfortunately, I can't give this product 0 STARS, which is the only reason I gave it one star!

I made two big mistakes with this carrier. The first was that I bought it. The second was that in my eagerness to prepare for the arrival of my daughter, I washed the carrier so now I can't return it.

My first disappointment was the design of this sling. The way it's worn with your arms through the two holes feels very unnatural and uncomfortable...and this may sound vain, but it feels "dorky"...very UN-classy!

Even though I was disappointed with the design, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, when I tried to put my baby in it in the hospital, both of us got very, very frustrated. Perhaps she's too small for it. She just got lost inside it and I got very upset because she started fussing immediately. I was ready to throw the darn thing in the trash. Instead I gave it to my parents to take home and I'm now writing this review after giving the sling one more shot. It still doesn't provide the support both my daughter and I need. She's now 2 1/2 weeks old and still doesn't fit comfortably in the sling, even with adjustments.

I tried the sling with both arms through the holes, which was a complete disaster. It was awkward putting her inside it and then once inside, her head was scrunched up to her chest, no matter how I positioned her. I then tried it with just one arm through a hole and one arm in front (more in the sling style) and that was just as awkward. I finally tried it in true sling-style, not using the armholes at all and draping it over one shoulder...that seemed the best method as far as my comfort was concerned, however, my daughter became increasingly fussier as I tried to position her inside the carrier.

I just gave up because her head was never supported properly (I couldn't get her to a place where her chin wasn't pressed up against her chest). I really need something to carry her around in, both for the comfort of my hands/wrists/back, as well as for the discretion a sling-carrier provides for breastfeeding.

I think I'll try another brand of true sling-style carriers and use this one as a dusting rag.

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh!, July 29, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Carry On Sling Carrier - Large/Extra-Large (Baby Product)
it's easy to wash however if you don't have your baby 'just right' in the carrier, she'll be lopsided and crooked, more so for small babies - the sides curl in over the baby's face or she'll be almost face down - after awhile you're back will start to "shift" - i found myself leaning over more - it's not ergonomically correct if you have back problems or had an epidural (with a lot of re-sticks) - the front baby carriers are a lot better - BABY BJORN is expensive but worth every penny - it' durable, washable, easy to use (difficult to figure it out when putting it on but you eventually figure it out) - you can get your baby in and out of the carrier with minimal movement - i had a collically baby who fell asleep in it and was put in the crib quietly without being pulled, jerked, or yanked
