Okay, maybe the title of this review is a bit much. . . . Joe practically sponsored me in my early sobriety. I sobered up in his "Dormitory for Drunks" as he liked to call it in 1983. (He never liked the term "Treatment Center") Every Monday night many, many of us alcoholics would gather at the Wolfe Street Center in Little Rock, Arkansas to hear him lecture on one of the Steps. I don't have the ability to share how much and how well I've learned from this man. Even today as I attend meetings, I share the principles of sobriety he taught me. The serenity I have lived all these years is directly related to the program of AA as Joe shared it with me. Joe has helped tens of thousands, probably, literally hundreds of thousands of Alcoholics throughout the world with his famous "Big Book Study"'s. This book is no exception as he shares his wisdom, experience and knowledge of the program of Alcoholics Anonymous and how to share it with others. You'll be doing yourself and your prospects quite a favor by reading it.

I strongly disagree with the person who gave Joe one star and criticized him! I have met him personally, sat in his lectures and read his books several time. How can you possibly discourage those seeking recovery to avoid his wonderful books? Perhaps you are far ahead in your recovery, but there are those of us who definitely need Joe and his wisdom. I came in to buy several copies of The Steps We Took for friends of mine.

As a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over twenty years, I'm always looking for some additional insights on working the twelve steps--especially for helping new sponsees taking the steps for the first time. I've listened to Joe and Charlie's Big Book study tapes many times over the years and always hear something new and valuable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this written interpretation and find it a noteworthy resource for someone new to sponsorship.

CARRY THIS MESSAGE IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK FOR ANY ONE WANTING TO EXPAND ON THE PROGRAM OFA.A.THE BIG BOOK OF A.A.IS STILL THE BASIC TEXT.ANOTHER GREAT BOOK BY JOE McQ IS "THE STEPS WE TOOK".

I love the title of this book. It basically says "We have found a common solution" for recovery. Yes, there are many ways to get sober, but this book attempts to pass on "this" message from way back in the 30's. I have found it helpful because it's simple and to the point, no candy coating the issue at hand.

This book will be a treasure and excellent resource for anyone wishing to give back what's been so freely passed onto us for 72 years.

This book is writen based on sound AA principles and I highly recommend it! Joe's 12 step study video was instrumental in my sobriety in 1991. The program works and Joe doesn't try to fix it...he just simply explains how he worked and lived it. This book explains how to assist a sponsee in working the steps to obtain sobriety.

Joe McQ. is fantastic at helping understand the Alcoholics Anonymous book and the 12 steps. In this book, he has been a great help to me. To carry this message is one of the corner stones of recovery, and Joe writes about how to do just that.

I can't recommend this book enough; it's even better than "The Steps We Took".

Joe McQ surely knows how to keep it simple and pass on the very powerfull message.

Just buy it!

This book is a great supplement to the A.A. Big Book. It provides clear guidance about carrying the A.A. message to others - instructing about each of the 12 steps and the program of recovery. Excellent hard-core A.A. recovery! Good sponsorship guide!

"Carry This Message" by Joe McQ is one of the best books I've ever read. If put into action, it can become a life changing experience for anyone that puts the principles in this book into ACTION! It has worked and is working for me on a daily basis!
