To be honest I had never heard of Dale Watson until I found his name while I was

songs on "the previous listen button" provided by Amazon of this CD and since I

3.0 out of 5 stars Why Is Dale Watson CARRYIN' ON This Way?
Oh, man, I am going to ruffle SO many feathers with this review! See, unlike pretty much everyone else who's reviewed it so far, I DON'T love Dale Watson's latest, CARYIN' ON. At times I find it repeatative, other times unoriginal and dull. There are even moments where Watson seems to have become what he's always hated most...formulistic and calculated, just cranking out...

To be honest I had never heard of Dale Watson until I found his name while I was

consulting Google on Gene Watson who's my favorite C&W singer. I tried out some

songs on "the previous listen button" provided by Amazon of this CD and since I

liked the first 4 songs I decided to buy it. I must say that I was immediately

caught by his baritone voice and great songs. There's a lot of Texas shuffle and

Honky Tonk which happen to be my favorite types of country music. The song that I

like most, though, is really the only ballad available on this CD called "For A

Little While". Dale's country music is definitely a revival of the 70's & 80's

sounds in C&W and therefore succesful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Country music lives, November 13, 2010

If you've ever lamented the demise of true country music, take heart. Dale Watson is carryin' on the tradition in a most classy way. Murder may have been committed "down on Music Row," but country music is doing quite well in Texas thank you. You won't be able to take this cd out of your player and you may feel the need to plan a road trip just so you can listen to "Hey Brown Bottle" loop. On the other hand, you'll also feel like dancing when track 12 rolls around, the "Don't Wanna Go Home Song." There's a bit of Glen Campbell in here and a touch of Elvis, but a whole lof of Dale Watson's heart. The production is stellar and the musicians top of the line. I love this man's music. I send out Dale Watson alerts to friends when I know he's coming to their local honky tonk. I also have his "Promiseland" and "Whisky or God" cds, along with most all of his older ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Washing out the bloodstains on country music, August 31, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Carryin' On (Audio CD)
I first saw Dale Watson at Lee's Liqour lounge in Minneapolis nearly 10 years ago this month and

discovered why country music sucked on the radio and where it was reborn!

Dale Hank III and Wayne the Train have finally allowed this METAL HEAD to say...

"Hell yea I've discovered *Real* country music."

The Whiskey or God platter has been a life support to me for many months now and with the long awaited release of Carryin'on the songs feel like old hat!

And they should,He's been playing them on the road for some time now!

Do not miss a chance to see Dale live as he tours more than a man should!(I'm sure he owns no home..just lives on that bus!)

A living legend!

Dale,congrats on an outstanding cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal ..., February 14, 2011
This review is from: Carryin' On (MP3 Download)
I have to say it has been a long time since there was a good country artist, in my opinion. If you are new Dale Watson and like the good, REAL country like Johnny Cash, Waylon, Willie, and the other great Texas musicians out there ... buy this album AND From The Cradle to the Grave. Outstanding music!! Also if you find yourself in Austin Texas stop by the broken Spoke and see Dale in his regular gig. My wife and I visited Texas last September and saw him play there live. What a show! Do not miss Dale and buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album in a long time, February 23, 2012

I just "discovered" Dale Watson's music in the last few days and decided to try on Carryin' On. I can only say I wish I had heard him sooner. As one who favors more traditional country over the corporatized pop country that most listen to today. This is without a doubt one of the best albums I have heard within the past year. It is everything that Kenny Chesney, et al, are not: smart, witty, classic, and talented. And he has a tremendous voice that harkens to George Jones, Cash, and other earlier performers. It's hard for me to say, but Watson just might usurp Cash as my favorite country singer. Now to see him in concert.... If you really like more traditional country, I find it hard to believe you would find someone more authentic than Dale Watson.

I have listened to this CD over and over, and can't get enough of Dale's rich baritone voice and guitar prowess. I have seen him in concert several times, an experience I recommend to anyone who gets the chance. He makes it look easy - but in reality the only easy part is listening to him.

Carryin' On is probably one of the best CDs I've bought in a long time. Excellent songwriting and steel guitar and fiddle that make me want to quit my day job and hit the road with Dale and the boys. The songs, musicianship and production on this CD prove that the old sound is new again and better than ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dale YOU BEAUTY Watson, August 7, 2011

Another winner, from our man in austin, and what an album. Dale Watson is proving to be one of the most consistent hitmakers in the history of music. This man never ceases to amaze me (and that takes a lot) he repeatedly comes out with classic songs one after another. I am simply in awe of good songwriters, we had Tom T Hall, we had Merle Haggard and now we have the inimitable Dale Watson carrying the flame. To all you REAL COUNTRY fans , do yourself a favour and get this album, and if it is your 1st by MR D WATSON you will be clamouring to get all his back catalogue, I have two words for you BUY IT

5.0 out of 5 stars Real country music, June 28, 2011

Much of what is played on the air these days is pop garbage. Some is Southern Rock which is fine... When I'm in the mood.

But damnit, I want some Real Country music and Dale Watson gives it out without any reservations.
