"Cars" was the first movie that we took my three-year-old son to see at a theater. The greatest compliment I can give the film is that it kept him in his seat and laughing his head off for the entire movie. As always with big Summer releases like this, particularly with Disney/Pixar films, you get a lot of media tie-ins and the books from DK are always a treat. Extremely well done with fantastic photography, and in hard cover format that are perfect for kids or collectors.

"Cars The Essential Guide" is another winner from DK. The book gives kids all the information they could want about their favorite characters from the film including Lightning McQueen, The King, Chick Hick, Doc Hudson, Ramone, Red, Fillmore, and all the rest. Each of the main characters gets a full two-page spread in the book with photos from the film, background on the character, and fun car facts. In addition to the character info there is also information on Radiator Springs, the Dinoco 400 race, and much more. There is also a huge color foldout of the Motor Speedway of the South race track, complete with all sorts of interesting facts. There's even a section on those trouble-making pranksters DJ. Boost, Snot Rod, and Wingo.

"Cars The Essential Guide" is going to be a book that kids who loved the movie will treasure and read over and over again. It's simply a gorgeous book and a real bargain at $12.99 for an oversized hardcover book. Highly recommended!

This is a big, bright book all about your favorite characters from Disney's Cars movie.

Each page highlights an individual character with a "CAR FACTS" circle with the mechanical info for the car. Also included are pictures from the movie with a caption underneath describing the picture. For example "Dedicated Driver" shows McQueen talking to Mack with a caption telling how he gets his boss to the next race as fast as possible and how he is McQueen's one true friend.
We also get a "Tractor Tipping" page with a full page spread of a rather angry looking Frank, with a smaller caption of a terrified McQueen escaping Frank's blades!
The highlight is the centerfold 4 page foldout of the Speedway! We get a blip's view of the Speedway at night pre-race. Along the outside are captions of McQueen, the Piston Cup, Chicks and McQueen's pit crew.

Overall a beautifully presented book with all your little (or big) Cars fan could wish for!

This book by far is the best ever! I love the info they give about each and every car and they're absolutely specific about what they're saying. My fave pages are On the Road, The King, and Ramone. This book also has something every DK book has: a fold-out! I'm rating it five stars because after I've read it, I've loved it at first sight! I seriously recommend this book to every child!

I liked the book because is gave some background information on the main characters that helps you understand the movie better. Great book...great movie!

I love this book. It is the essential guide for cars by Disney Pixar. This helps you learn more about the movie and the characters. I love it that each character has a page of their own. It has lots of facts like did you know that the cars that make Mack fall asleep are DJ, Boost, Snot Rod, and Wingo. I sure didn't. Did you know that the Mini Vans that come to Radiator Springs are named Mr. and mrs. Minivan? This book also has an awesome fold out of the Dinoco 4000 stadium. I hope you want to buy this book.

The book is very colorful and gives loads of information on all the characters. My son loves the book!

A very colorful and informative book that's a pleasure to read over and over. I just wished it has more information about the other characters in the movie. But clearly, this book is made for kids.

Still, I enjoy the great pictures and endeared the characters closer to me.

I bought one of these in WDW a couple years ago for one of my grandsons, and just bought this on Amazon for my 4 year old grandson for Christmas. They both love this book. The cars are very familiar, and give little facts about the cars. Great purchase for Cars fans.

My son fell in love with this book immediately and he can now name out all the cars' name and characteristics. Highly recommended.

He loves the movie, he loves the book! only wish they were hard board pages but then i'd be huge! i think theres almost 50 pages, each page focuses on a character from the movie...very cute!
