I, for the record, don't usually buy licensed games of movies that come out. For the most part, most of them are a waste of time & aren't worth the money that is spent on them. However, I've had a few exceptions in my time(if you've read any of my reviews before). At any rate, I recently watched "Cars" on DVD and was entertained by it. So, when I was out shopping, I come across Cars, the game, for the PSP at an exceptionally low price. The kid in me came out again, I guess, 'cause I ended up getting the game. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be worth much but I was pleasantly surprised that it ended up being the most 'entertaining' racer that I've played in awhile. Racing around familiar environments from the movie & hearing your favorites spout off all kinds of humor("Say--later 'mater..."), it was a real hoot. It's a perfect fit for those quick bursts of gameplay while commuting on a bus or traveling by cars & such. There are 15 playable 'Cars' in the game with only three available from the get-go as you make your way through over 25 races. Although it may be geared towards the younger set, older folks-like me-can get into it too. It might not be as deep as, say, Need for Speed or Ridge Racer but it's a solid racer...nonetheless.

There are, however, a couple of flaws in the game that hinder it from being a 'great' racer. First, the collision detection..it was really spotty at times with other cars as well as the environment. Second, while the game looked good on the PSP--it didn't look as good as the PSP is capable of. It looked more to me like a higher-rez Nintendo DS game, actually. Given, it's the gameplay that matters and this game has that in spades. Yet, I expected much more out of it. I could see the game looking this way if it were pushing as much code as Midnight Club 3:Dub Edition on the PSP but it isn't. Sad to say, even Midnight Club 3 looks a heck of a sight better than this game.

Beyond that, Cars for the PSP is a delightfully entertaining racer that will appeal to both young and old. Definitely worth a look if you love racing.

yep i agree. i was also surprised, this is a pretty solid race game. Fans are going to love it too. The Multiplayer is sweet. I give it an overall score of 9/10.

Cars was a success and a favorite in my house, so I decided to pick this game up for the children. It is very well done in terms of the charactors and sounds from the the movie, and is a fun race car game in general.

My 6 year old is really enjoying playing with and that is all I can ask for from a video game.

I will be looking for other games based on some of the recent animated movies based on this one.

Both of my sons love this game and I am thrilled that it is appropriate for 7=9 year olds.

I got this game for my 5 year old and he was really good at it after a couple of hours. He really enjoyed it, he loves the graphics and the music and the commands are easy to learn and maneuver. There is clean competition, nothing a parent would squirm about, no violence or bad words. It's fun for adults too. After six weeks my son moved on to another game because he had played enough to get bored, I will add that he played it two or three times a week for less than two hours each time. It's not a boring game, by no means, but going around the track and beating the obstacles can only be fun for so long. He does goes back and plays it occasionally, overall it's a good addition to your PSP game library.

This is a great game. I am addicted to it. My kids love this game as well. Must buy for those who love racing games.

I bought my nephew this game. He loves Cars and can name every character..He is only 5. He was playing grand theft auto at such an advanced stage...I was worried and wanted him to play something more appropriate for his age. I bought Cars and he loved it. Put grand theft auto away and he adores Cars. So much fun. Highly recommend.

Bought this for him at Walmart, got it home and the case was empty so I took it back and bought another from Amazon and he was a happy camper that the game was intact in its case. Always can count on Amazon and its associates for great service and reliability.

there are not many young kids games for this console so take what you can that isnt violent and run
my 7 year old likes it and what keeps him happy keeps us happy

Got this for my son and he loves it! Love the movie and the game is just as much fun!
