I use this magnifier to see detail when I am needlepointing. I attach it to the wooden frame that I have my needlepoint piece mounted on. Because it's portable, it allows me to work on my needlepoint just about anywhere.

I bought this magnifying lamp to use while making jewelry. It fits the bill. The only thing I would change would be to make the clamp which attaches the lamp to the surface, open wider. I had to attach it to a shelf as it will not fit on my desktop. But there are many adjustment points and I was able to use it easily. Considering the wide price range for magnifying lamps for crafts, I wasn't sure that this - one of the least expensive - could possibly be a good choice. I called the company to ask a few questions, and the person I spoke to was very reassuring and friendly. I found that the LED light is plenty bright and the magnification is plenty strong. What more could I ask for (except the clamp issue)? This meets my needs for a great price.

Everything it claims to be, easy to set and use, very clear lens, auxiliary power source was a big plus for me, as I do a lot of fine wire work and a session lasting 4-5 hours is not unusual. A very good product, outperforming other lighted magnifiers that cost two to five times as much. Highly recommend.

I have used this magnifier for a while now and it is perfect for tying small flies. Lets me see exactly what I am doing.

This magnifier is absolutely the best weapon in my fly tying armory. My eye sight isn't what it used to be, and I wouldn't be able to tie even a fairly large fly without it. But even if your eye sight is great, I would still recommend buying this magnifier to tie small flies as flawlessly as possible. You can mount it to the vise or table top/fly tying station, and it runs the light that illuminates your work on batteries or via ac/dc adapter. You can't go wrong with this tool. Nothing emphasizes weakening eyesight like tying flies. After considering the options, for example having something strapped on my head, which I cannot abide, or spending too much at a fly shop, I decided to try the Carson Magnifly. The lens size is just right allowing me to see beyond it with just a slight tilt of my head for an unobstructed view of my effort. The 4x insert lens is good for a quick look at smaller details, though too small for tying. The lighting is weak and off color. LED lamps are just not appropriate for tying flies. True colors are lost. Still, considering the quality and good optics I consider this magnifier a good value for my weakening dollar.

I purchased the Carson fly tying magnifier because I need magnification to properly see the small size 16 to 22 dry flys that I was making. I bought the product sight unseen and have been very pleased with its' magnifying features and the LCD light.
The unit itself is smaller than many on the market and that works great for me. I later ran across the same light at a Bass ProShop where it was priced $25 more than what I paid at Amazon. I highly recommend the product.

This thing is perfect for electronic SMD (Surface mount device) soldering!!!

Many nice things to say about the Magni Fly Magnifier:

Very adequate, large lens. Neck moves easy enough for adjustments, but is definitely stiff enough to keep lens in place while working. Base mount offeres much flexibility, offers 360 degree rotation, for easy retraction.

I have not tested the LED lights, unable to indicate how bright they are (My workstation has ample florescent lighting above & desk level). It would seem quite nice as an added bonus to have them. Also surprising they've included a wall wart power adapter. Magnifier also takes 3xAAA batteries if on the go.

Overall quality seems superb. The table mount is great, looks like a c clamp style, opening to about 2 inches. The base of the magnifier doesn't look bullet proof, but should hold up under what most would consider everyday wear and tear.

Very happy with decision, looked for several hours at magnifiers for electronics work. the most impressive of which where quite expensive.

For me, this magnifier is Very Adequate, and very much within my price range.

This product surpasses my expectations! It is well made and shows excellent workmanship and durability. I especially like the built-in LED light. I find it to be very useful in fly tying and other applications around the house. It is easy to assemble and attach to my work surfaces, and makes viewing small objects very easy. I would recommend this product to anyone interested in fly tying or and optical aid for someone who has bad eye sight.

This product is a great lighted magnifier. It has lived up to and exceeded what I wanted it for. I am constantly finding new applications for it. I would recommend this product to anyone.
