Excellent low pressure pump,
By "Tom" Sawyer "vintage car restorer" (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Carter P60504 Electric Fuel Pump (Automotive)
I needed a reliable low pressure pump for a vintage car. The new alcohol additive in gasoline is causing many vapor lock problems in older, carburated cars. I run a restoration shop and have used Carter products for a long time now. Having tried all the other brands, Carter is my pump of choice. This pump is exceptionally quiet, as well as having very stable pressure. Many pumps will vary pressure widely with temperature changes. This one doesn't seem to do that. If you need a 4lb pressure fuel pump, buy this one from Amazon. I couldn't beat the price from any of my other suppliers. Avoid the cheaper pumps, you won't be happy with them. This one will run well for a long time.

Had installed a new fuel pump last winter from kubota for their 3 cylinder gas engine on an old cub cadet tractor which cost more than $180. It lasted less than 2 months of lite use before quitting. I purchased this Carter P60504 pump, which has a 1 year warranty and it has been working superbly since, at a cost from Amazon of under $60. I am very pleased with it, and since it is made by Carter, it has a good chance of working for a very long time. I would highly recommend it for any old engine that was designed for 3 PSI fuel pressure.

Replaced a mechanical pump on a 1979 dodge 440 motor home. Installed where the old pump connections are. 1/2 hour install and never started and ran so good. Did not use a pressure regulator. VERY HAPPY !

I used the Carter fuel pump to replace the original unit on my 1992 Yamaha TDM 850. Installation was easy and the carter was small enough to fit where the original Mikuni unit mounted. The pump is quiet and works perfectly in this application at less than half the Yamaha part price. And added bonus it is made here in the USA. I had to move the filter location further from the pump and so had to change the supplied fuel line. Power feed to the pump is from a relay box next to the original mounting location.

I installed this fuel pump on a John Deere Graden Tractor to make sure of a constant fuel flow to engine. I did not remove the orignal fulel bump that is Vacumm ran and the new pump feeds fuel to engine and doese not over load the old pump. Everything works as should.

I replaced the mechanical pump in my 1970 vw with the carter pump, and so far it works great. I can't say much about longevity, since I only put it in a few weeks ago, but I haven't had any problems.

Needed a low pressure fuel pump. This pump fit into a small space and hums along quietly while delivering 4 psi. Works as it's supposed to and appears well made.

dont buy carter elec fuel pumps from napa, have had nothing but trouble from them, had to replace the last one one month and four days after it was installed, the one before that lasted about one year, the one before that did'nt work at all, been through four in less than two years.this fuel pump is for an 86 ford f150, napa replaced the last one, but you have to pay the labor no matter what, I'm not the only one I know having this problem, napa knows this product is junk and I'm sure carter does too, what ever happend to quality. I've had it with this product, dont want no more carter pumps or napas parts that they buy cheap and then charge top doller for. I'm tired of being ripped by these people..

I bought the Carter Pump after doing a lot of on-line info searching. It is now installed in a 1958 Mercedes. It is very quiet and so far performs exactly as expected. Seller delivered the unit as stated in their advert.
