Customer Reviews

The only thing I'm disappointed with is the length the music plays after you wind it up.

I LOVE this whole set, especially since we didn't find out what we were having I thought it was a good gender neutral option.

The arm does look a bit plastic-y and if you have a crib with side rails that slope at all, attaching it may be an issue.

My first child was born in 1991. She had a mobile on her crib just like this one (but with different stuffed animals, obviously). You wound it up, it played 1 song for a minute or two. Fast forward 20 years, I have baby number 5 and she has this mobile on her crib. This mobile is no different from the one my 1st daughter had 20 years ago. You wind it up, it plays 1 song and it lasts a minute or two. It's a typical mobile no different from the way mobiles have been made for decades. Mobiles do not have bells or whistles. They just don't. They are not made to. I think these 1 star reviews are unfair to the product since the product is not as cheaply made as these reviews try to make people believe and it does do what it purports to do which is play a song after being wound up.

That said, I think Carter's should be ashamed of themselves for the price gouging clearly going on with this product. They know that they have parents in a bind because most new mom's want their nursery to match right down to every little detail and they are pricing the product accordingly. This mobile would be fairly prices at around $25. Pricing this mobile at $40+ is high-way robbery and I reduced my review by 1 star accordingly.

We like this mobile. It was easy to assemble and can be easily taken down from the crib as needed. It plays a good volume. My 3 month old loves it. My only request would be that it played longer with each wind and that it played a variety of songs. It only plays the one lullaby.

The animals on the mobile are adorable and match the rest of the bedding set perfectly. That said... the rest of the mobile is a complete let down.

The fabric that covers the arm looks incredibly cheap. The crossbar the animals hang from looks cheap. The bottom (conveniently hidden in the picture of the mobile) is glaringly white and plastic and looks awful against my cherry crib. If I had seen that in the product photo, I would have never bought this piece. There is one lullaby that plays with a wind, which is fine with me, but you can barely hear the music over the noise the gears inside make.

Like another reviewer said, I wouldn't be upset if we had spent $15 or $20 on an item of this quality. But for this price and for this brand? I'd expect much better. I will be writing to Carter's, as well. At the very least, they should change the picture on the product page to adequately show what the mobile looks like.

I'm seriously upset.. My son is 12 months old and I just walked in to get him from his crib to see something white in his mouth! I pulled it out and it's a round white plastic disc.. About the size of a 50 cent piece. I looked to see where he could have gotten it and it came off of the mobile! Nothing was holding it on, it was just popped in. Right where the arm meets the part that holds it onto the crib! I'm not sure if the piece was big enough to swallow.. But I'd rather not find out... I won't put the piece back in and it should be safe for him..

On another note, when we bought it (a year ago +) I instantly thought it looked very cheap and was disappointed but since it matched, I kept it.

Have only been using this item just over one month and it already stopped rotating. Still plays music, but no longer turns. In addition, the owl is heavier than the other three animals, so the mobile is lopsided.

I love the look of this mobile; it's super cute & matches our nursery decor, plus my twins love looking up at the animals whether they're moving or not. Only downfall if that the length of time for rotation & movement is quite short :( I don't think it's even 5 minutes. The mobile is operated by a wind-up mechanism, so when it's done it's done.

Mobiles are sort of one-trick ponies, and it's hard to get it "wrong." This mobile was fine in every way. Attached to the crib easily; played its one song; spun around and entertained the baby; was cute without being goofy. No complaints. One plus that I noticed--if you accidentally bump it getting baby in or out of the crib, it doesn't start up or play a note or two. A big bonus when baby has finally drifted off, and you DO NOT need surprise noises!
