They're both beautiful full-colored books with tons of great pictures - which is just the way I want my recipe books to be.

The resemblance of the cartoon characters that are crafted in cake is simply unbelievable. The designs look very intimidating at first, bu once you get over the first hurdle and just start, you will find that with the concise step-by step instructions and many pictures, you can't go wrong.
Be prepared to spend many hours on a cake, and be prepared to get a standing ovation once you present your masterpiece to your public.
Fantastic!

This is definitely not a book for beginners...or anyone that doesn't have experience in making clay figures. The intstructions were not that easy to follow. If you followed the written intstructions the characters will not necessarily look like the ones in the book. Maybe I may be a bit of a perfectionist, but I would think if I am making the Flintsones they should look exactly like the Flintstones. I did manage to make the Flintstones cake and it took quite a bit of time to create each character. After spending so much time making Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty, I didn't have enough time to make Pebbles, Bam-bam or Dino. What a monster of a project to take on!!!!

I do enjoy looking at photos in the book because I think the creater did an amazing job. It makes a great book for a coffee table!!!!

I love all of the cakes in this book. I made the Tom & Jerry Cake that is on page 29. Some of the directions are not as clear as they should be, so you have to look at the pictures and reread the directions over and over to make sure you got it. For example, when she starts explaining how to make Tom, she tells us to look at the picture to make his ears & his fur. She really doesn't explain how to attach the ears or the pieces together, but sugar glue is listed in the tools/supplies needed so it's clear (to me) that sugar glue is used for that purpose. Another example would be constructing Jerry's eye lashes. Jerry is sooo small and he's hard to make.I wish there were step by step pictures of how to make Jerry's eye lashes & mouth (like it was for Tom's mouth).

If you get this book, it's a great idea to have some knowledge of fondant and gum paste, as that will help you with a lot of these cakes. I've been cake decorating for 4 years and I'm still learning. So, some techniques are still new to me. Overall, I think this is a great book with great pictures. I would recommend this book to people at all skill levels.

This book has very detailed step by step instructions. I have already made The Scooby Doo haunted mansion cake and it turned out great. I have also been practicing some of the other characters in clay.

Our sons, ages 6 and 11, have recently shown an interest in cooking and baking. We were watching the Food Network with our oldest daughter and her boyfriend, when we saw some of Debbie Brown's amazing cakes. After that I happened upon her books on Amazon and really wanted to get all of them - for 2 reasons - the first is obviously because the cakes are amazing, and the 2nd is because everything that can be created for a cake could also be created with polymer clay! Debbie does an amazing job of giving step by step directions on how to make these cakes, and how to create all the characters and details on the cakes.

I didn't want to pay the price to get all of them and just happened to luck out finding two of the books at Half Priced Books - this one for $11, and 50 Fun and Easy Party Cakes for $6 - so I picked both of them up. They're both beautiful full-colored books with tons of great pictures - which is just the way I want my recipe books to be.

This is a wonderful book with beautiful pictures but I don't think that it is quite at the beginner level. I think you need to have a little bit of experience before you can tackle this book. What would definitely have helped was adding more pictures showing step by step instructions for molding the characters instead of one or two pictures followed by written instructions. If the extra pictures were added this book would be PERFECT and do able for a beginner!! Overall it's a great book and I would definitely recommend getting it especially if you like working with fondant as all the cakes are covered with it.
