5.0 out of 5 stars 8 cartoons in this rare set., January 14, 2010
This review is from: Cartoon Classics (Columbia Pictures Cartoons, Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is RARE and hard to find nowadays, thankfully we can find it at Amazon used. I found out it sells for hundreds of dollars as it is the only place you can get this rare group of UPA films. I agree with the reviewer that said "Unicorn in the Garden" is in the top 50 cartoons of all time, it is a masterpiece based on the James Thurber story of a guy that tries to convince his wife he sees a Unicorn. Christopher Crumpet is another imaginative story about a boy who turns himself into a chicken. The 8 titles are:
Pete Hothead
Popcorn Story
Christopher Crumpet
Unicorn In the Garden
Ballet-Oop
Four Wheels, No Brakes
The Rise of Duton Lang
Family Circle

Unicorn in the Garden is one of the 50 best cartoons of all time.
By itself it is worth the price of admission.

3.0 out of 5 stars There's two classic, most of the others are dumb, November 7, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cartoon Classics (Columbia Pictures Cartoons, Vol. 6) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The cartoons include:

PETE HOTHEAD **
Though Pete has a funny voice, this cartoon is quite boring.

POPCORN STORY ***
Pretty good, but awfully forgettable.

CHRISTOPHER CRUMPET *****
This is one of the greatest UPA cartoons ever made (in the top five).

UNICORN IN THE GARDEN *****
This cartoon is even better! Based off James Thurber's wonderful fable about a unicorn, a husband and an evil wife.

BALLET OOP *
Bleechhh!

FOUR WHEELS, NO BRAKES *
This Pete Hothead cartoon is even worse than the earlier one.

THE RISE OF DUNTON LANG *
Boring. Forgettable. Stupid.

FAMILY CIRCUS *
Do not think this has anything to do with the comic strip "The Family Circus" because it is not. You might has well have turned the tape off after 'The Unicorn in the Garden' was over, anyway.

So, if you already have already seen Christopher Crumpet and The Unicorn in the Garden, don't expect any other classics.

* = Terrible
** = Pretty bad
*** = Average
**** = Good
***** = Great
