This is better than "Cartoon Network Speedway" for Game Boy Advance !

Why ? Well, this crazy cool DS game features your favorite Cartoon Network characters as they go head to head with each other in a racing game that's gets you easily hooked on. Please note that this game features FORMER favorite characters from shows like "Dexter's Laboratory", "The Powerpuff Girls", "Courage the Cowardly Dog", and "Cow and Chicken"; not current favorites like "Billy and Mandy", "Foster's", and "Ed, Edd n Eddy". I'll have to admit, though, it's nice to see them back in action again. In fact, you'll also hear the original voices, too.

Like "Mario Kart DS", you get to choose any of your favorite characters such as Johnny Bravo, I. M. Weasel, Dexter, Courage, or any of the Powerpuff Girls and play in uniquely themed tracks. You can even go wireless with a few friends and see who's the best. Unlike "Mario Kart DS", this game has unique powerups like chili pepper boosts, wheel spikes, and smokescreens. Plus, attacking enemies and collecting stars in each track lets you fill up a power bar to unleash a special attack from Dexter's "De-Atomizer" and Johnny's "Kung Fu Attack" to Blossom's "Freeze Breath" and Cow's "Super Cow Boost".

But wait, there's more ! While driving along, look for hidden coins on each track. If you can't find any, that's okay; you'll get bonus coins if you place first. Once you have enough, you'll be able to buy mini games, kart upgrades, new characters, and even three bonus cartoons ! Another one of my favorite features is the "Sketchbook Challenge" where you test your drawing skills by tracing the playable characters.

The "Cartoon Network Fan (CN Fan)" wants you to give this amazing game a try: both the DS and the PS2 versions. It's good for those of you that yearn for the older series. Of course you can also check out the Cartoon Network website for full-length videos of the older series and some new stuff, too.

I have 2,4,6 & 10 year old gamers in my home and this game holds their attention for hours if I let it. It's intense and they concentrate on winning. If I ever want some quiet time, I will tell them to play this game. Highly recommended.

This game starts off real nice. You have a choice of the PPG, Cow & Chicken, Johnny Bravo, Dexter, I M Weasel...and I think that's it; there may be a couple more. But it's clear from the empty slots that later in the game you can get more characters. In the beginning you race a championship. You have to win the championship in 1st place in order to get the next one; there are 4 championships in all. But once you get the last one, the game gets a bit boring.

Basically there are only the 4 championship races. After you get all four, then what you're competing for is higher difficulty/speed levels, but the races are all the same. A BIG negative.

During the races you can get coins. Once you get enough you can go to the "Toon Up" shop and buy things like the hidden characters, 2 hidden games, and even 3 cartoons. But again, once you get all the characters, the game gets boring. You're also supposed to buy "souped up" cars for each person to correspond with the higher levels (ex. you get to difficulty/speed level 2 and want to race with Johnny, you have to buy Johnny's level 2 car); otherwise when you get to the next difficulty level you won't have anyone to choose from. That means you'll be racing the same championship level for quite a while just to get enough coins to buy new cars for all the characters. Even worse, the "souped up" versions are no different in design or power than the originals.

The biggest drawback is that you can't race any track individually. You either race a championship (4 specific tracks) or time trial, where you race against your best time, but with no other characters. This means that you can't pick a favorite track and race just for the fun of it.

Another drawback is no battle option, which would have been awesome considering the characters you have to work with.

One unique thing is that each character has its own special move. You collect stars during the races, and when you get enough energy you can use your special move. The only thing sometimes it takes forever to get enough energy, and then you can only use the move 2-3 times before you run out. There's a cheat code you can find on the Net that'll let you have unlimited energy, which is handy.

Overall, this game starts off well, but after you race the championships on the first speed level the excitement fades quickly. In fact, there's also a cheat code with this game that allows you to unlock the entire game, but I suggest you play it for yourself first, or else you'll REALLY get bored.

In my quest to play every racing game on the DS, it has become Cartoon Network Racing's turn. I guess I don't watch cartoon network, as I have heard of absolutely none of these characters, but I decided to try it out anyway.

It's very much obviously a rip-off of Mario Kart, yet lacks in the fun you can have in that game with both in-game fun and mini-game fun. There are 4 or maybe 5 events, each with about 4 tracks to race on. You get a selection of Cartoon Network characters to choose from, with a heap to unlock later. Each car has it's own attributes and abilities, and probably special power ups, but I found this game to be one of those highly annoying games where its the karts you unlock later that go faster then the ones you have to put up with at first.

The tracks are much like a Mario Kart race... from circuits, beaches, deserts and schools etc to race on. The handling is decent once you get used to it, it's a standard racing game, one button to accelerate, one to brake, and one to use your power up item when you run into a block on the track. There is also a button to slide, but it's not for sliding (drifting) around corners, it's more a mostly useless button that you only need to make a sharp turn into an object or a quick slide to prevent hitting a wall, however, if you are used to Mario Karts slide, then don't bother trying it, you will just turn into a wall if you do.

The power-ups are identical to Mario Kart. Boosters, projectiles and things to leave on the track like mines and oil spills and what not. The whole thing is a watered down rip off of Mario Kart, and it was decent enough to be slightly fun at first, but it becomes completely annoying after a while when you are cruising along in first place, and every few seconds an opponent behind you has projectiles something at you... you see a warning icon, which I couldn't figure out why it would bother, as you can't defend it unless you have a temporary shield power up to activate... but I got so sick and tired of seeing that warning icon, then a stupid whistle sound as it collides into you and you tumble around in the air and land back on the track to resume racing... even tho it does not slow you down all that much and you can continue on with ease in first place... it was just irritating for it to keep happening every few seconds.

It's also one of those games where you have to collect things on the track to earn tokens to unlock things... these things are upgrades, mini games, new character/vehicles and some cartoons to watch... but whats annoying is some cost a ridicules amount... you can earn probably 1000 or so tokens for each championship... but to unlock the "Black Sheep" cartoon to watch, it will cost you 250,000... can any one really be bothered playing the game for that long to earn that many points/tokens/coins?

I can tell you now, if you want to see what you would get by wasting all that time unlocking everything, then when you enter your name for the game, type in "GIMMIE" and everything will be unlocked, but you will not be able to save any progress this was. This opens everything for you to see, and you can see the rest of the characters to unlock might get faster and better to use, but the mini games are a snore fest and the cartoons are a nice addition, as they are short, but full length episodes... but as I said, I don't watch Cartoon Network, so they did not appeal to me, but for someone who LOVES the shows, then unlocking 3 of them to watch without just imputing that GIMMIE name code, then you may be wrapped to be awarded with that feature to be unlocked.

Overall; it just become too repetitive, and more annoying as it went along. I just did not care to complete the whole game... if you own Mario Kart, you will see this is a major attempt to try and clone it, but it gets it all wrong in the end. Even tho the graphics aren't all that bad, and the controls are decent, there was just so much more that was needed to improve this game. If the price is right and your kids love Cartoon Network, then it might be a decent buy for them, but I can tell you now, it will get old quickly.

Hello I'm an autistic adult gamer and this is my review on Cartoon Network Racing for the NDS, NDSL, NDSI.

I absolutely love this game I picked it up at GameStop for [..] used and could not be happier it is such an awesome game. I love racing and I love cartoonnetwork so both work very well for me plus once I saw it had Johnny Bravo in it I had to get this game. Plus there's a new johnny Bravo game coming out this June of 09 YES! I love Johnny Bravo that's part of the reason why I got this game. Oh if you get this game go down to option's and where it say "enter name" type in "GIMMIE" it unlock's everything. Plus it disables the save mode. So if you want to have some real fun with this game do that because there are two really awesome mini game's plus three cartoon's you can watch of the old school show's. I'm not going to tell you what the mini games or show's are. But get this game.

You do not know what your missing out on! This game was worth every penny I paid for it. Best Buy ever on any DS game!

Cartoon Network has out done them selves once again.

If you like kart racing games got for Mario Kart, this game is not at the same level when it comes to graphics, controls, re-playability and overall fun.

I got this as a Christmas gift for my nephew and he loves it, hes 9 years old and loves race cars as well as being able to race with his favorite characters...I recommend this to anyone who has a cartoon network lover at home ;-)

This game is too pixely to be considered DS quality. The graphics just aren't what they could be. Plus, you have to come in first place in every race just to unlock the next set of courses. That's just not fair. Some people don't play video games to win; they play them to have fun.

My 11 year old son enjoys the game. Anything racing is good for him and the addition of the fact that it is Cartoon network makes it even better.

I purchased this game for my niece since she is a huge fan of Power Puff Girls! We played this game once and were really disappointed. Why? Simply put, every single thing in it sucks like hell, from graphic, game play, music, replay value, etc. Worst of all, however, is that this game doesn't have Wi-Fi! We rather play MKDS or DKRDS! Do not buy this game. You might regret you did! I sure did at least.
