4.0 out of 5 stars realy nice game!, November 17, 2003
This review is from: Cartoon Network Speedway (Video Game)
I am a 8 year old and I think this game is really good because it is challenging but not too challenging. The graphics are good. I don't like the music. It is similar to Crash Bandicoot CTR. I got it free with my sister's SP that she's getting for Christmas. It is worth getting it for free! I would recommend it to people who like racing games. I think it would be boring for teenagers, but kids like me or younger would like it.

This is a really great non-violent game that is easy for all to understand and play. My six year old son just loves it, and I have to say, I do as well. You can be many different characters from Cartoon Network shows. As you win challenges you gain access to other characters, power-ups and tracks. The only thing that I would say that I don't like about it is instead of saving the games it gives you passwords. But this is easy enough to fix, we keep a small post-it pad with our gameboy and just write them down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toons, start your engines !, November 30, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

Get a load of this.

It's a racing game featuring a whole lotta Cartoon Network characters from shows like "Johnny Bravo", "Ed, Edd n Eddy", "Courage the Cowardly Dog", "Cow and Chicken", and even "Sheep in the Big City". One thing I like about this game is that the face of the character you're playing changes whenever you're spinning out or gaining a boost of speed. That makes it different.

There are many tracks to choose from such as the Eds' neighborhood and Courage's farm. There's even some cool power-ups ranging from wiener missiles to cream pies. There's even a special power-up called a "Sidekick" power-up where you become invincible and impervious to the various hazards on the race tracks like oil slicks and traffic cones. You can also link up to two players and go head to head with each other.

This is one racing game you don't want to pass up on. And if you think that's good, try "Cartoon Network Block Party" on the Game Boy Advance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your Favorite Characters on the Track, January 15, 2006

So, this is a fairly interesting game. I'm a big fan of many cartoon network shows, so it's cool to play as your favorite character and battle the others. You start out with a number of characters- Courage, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Sheep, Cow and Chicken, and others. Each character has certan abilities- some weigh more than others which slows your speed down, others have a better grip on the track, making sharp turns easier, others have higher speeds overall. You have to choose the best of all possible worlds in this regard.

You can choose your character, pick a track out of 3 to play on, or do a championship mode and earn trophies, unlocking special bonuses, more characters, more tracks, etc. You move up further and further in the trophy race, unlocking more codes with each level. You get passwords you can put in and start your game with later.

The graphic are decent- you can tell each character apart, you can tell- who they are- the tracks are, from what I have seen so far, fairly simply, but they're starting to get harder with more obstacles (oil slicks that'll make you spin out, big muddy spots, bushes, etc), and the competition seems to get better as you progress. Most levels have at least one small shortcut which can make a big difference, especially if it's near the finish line. There are spots with arrows that you can run over and they will give you a big speed boost, that always helps, as well as presents that give you objects to throw at others and other things that will help you knock others out of the way. Or you can simply bump them off the track if you like.

There are a number of tracks, all related to each character- you can see Johnny Bravo's neighborhood, farms, the Ed's neighborhood, and much more. You unlock more and more tracks as you go along. They're all, so far as I've played, similar- not many with sharp turns (one new level has one very sharp turn, but that was rare from what I've seen so far.) They have similar items to knock you off course, or help you defeat the others. You can pick up stars and gain points that way as well- there are 5 on each track so far as I can tell.

The music changes for each track, which is a God-send. Too many games give you one track and that's it. The music usually tries to fit the level...the farm music in particular sticks out in this regard.

It's a nice game, not sure how short or long it will be from my experience with it thus far. I've enjoyed it for some simple fun so far, so that can't be all that bad.
