The bit snapped just before the end of its 1st pass. Its not user error.only happening whit the cutting bit. Having the machine fail is one thing eating bits is to much

Bit broke after about 5 uses.I'm not sure if the problem was the bit or the machine.over $40 for a bit that cuts for such a short time and breaks is not worth trying again unless warrantied.I don't know how to check for warranty but I sure would appreciate help.

Great carbide-- cutting passes must be shallow to not break,

The carbide in these bits is very high quality and they last for many many projects if the product is used correctly. I have owned my carvewright for about 5 months now and have made 4 or 5 dozen projects and the original bit is as sharp as it was the day I bought it. The adapters/quick change chuck system is not the best-- the aftermarket chuck "the rock chuck" is a more stable and more predictable way to hold the bits--you can read more about the rock chuck on the carvewright forum. Fortunately these carvewright bits will work in the rock chuck just fine. Buy with confidence and make sure you do your research and learn what you are doing BEFORE carving with this machine. It is not a perfect machine and it has a fairly steep learning curve, but for the money nothing else comes even close. WIth the cutting bits (and carving bits for that matter) it is VERY important that you read the instructions on the website (including tips etc) to learn how to do cuts in multiple passes. With care and diligent research (this is a computer network controlled router and though it is a consumer level one it still has a steep learning curve) these bits will last a very long time.LDR
