4.0 out of 5 stars Decoy Patterns
This book is exactly what it says it is, full life size duck decoy patterns. The book contains 16 different patterns of the more common ducks. The patterns can be taken out of the book and used as templates. The patterns give you a good starting point to begin carving.

This review is from: Carving Duck Decoys (Dover Woodworking) (Paperback)
This book reports on how to "make a duck decoy in the traditional South Jersey method". The patterns are the essence of the book, as other detail is limited to five summary pages. I had researched the Mallard using other references and photos of local ducks, and found the template of Carving Duck Decoys to be quite different than the actual physical Mallard. You might want to consider this as sort of a second opinion versus other references. Perhaps the "South Jersey method" distorts dimensions to emphasize a particular style. They are probably fine as decoys, but not as precise replicas of actual ducks, in my opinion.
