The author has written other books about chip carving and she does a good job with this one. You can make some very attractive carvings with this book.

Swiss Chip Carving Expanded,

This review is from: Chip Carving Pennsylvania Dutch Designs (Schiffer Book for Woodcarvers) (Paperback)
When first getting started learning Swiss chip carving, I ran across Pam's introductory book and found that her easy to understand explanations often helped me to understand a concept I may have read about in other books and never quite mastered. Since then I've purchased several of her other books and always find them helpful. Not only is her instruction clear, but she makes suggestions and examples that can be expanded on as you develop your understanding. I still go back to the early books at times just to browse and pick up ideas from some of the pictures or diagrams. This book and the one on Chip Carving the Southwest help look at the art and consider additional possibilities for any interested carver. Helps to develop your own take on the formal "standards" used in carving. I definitely recommend these books. The information available in the books is well worth much more than the price.
