Product Description
Tambourines (or "riq" in Arabic) are basically frame drums with jingles set into slots on the frame. In western music the tambourine is usually seen being shaken and struck with the palm of the hand for rhythmical accompaniment. However in Arabic and other eastern music the "riq" is played more like a frame drum - a versatile style that can produce a myriad of sounds and can even allow the player to take a lead role in the rhythm section. Though seemingly easy, to the hands of an expert the tambourine can create a most exciting music.
