How To Fix A Remote that Loses Touch With Fan,
By Pam S-G "Pam S-G" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casablanca C30G45H Isotope Brushed Nickel Flush Mount 52" Ceiling Fan with Light & Remote Ctrl
We bought this fan and installed it in our living room. Other than the fact some idiot (me) dropped a screw driver on the glass light shade before getting it up, which broke a hole in it, the installation was easy and the instructions were fine. Worked great.
A year later, the sun is starting to shine occasionally in the Pacific Northwest, and we wanted to use the fan. It worked fine. Two weeks later the sun came out again, but the fan wouldn't start. We pulled the fan and checked, there is power that gets all the way to the fan. Based on the comments others have made we guessed the remote and the fan lost contact. A call to Casablanca, and here are the steps the technician gave to reset/set the remote to work with the fan. He said there are NO dip switches in the fan (I was looking for some to pair with those in the remote). The technician said you have only 20 seconds from step 5 (restoring power) to do step 6 (reseting remote). The steps: 1. Power off to the fan (wall switch or breaker box). 2. Pull battery from remote. 3. Redo the dip switches in the remote. #4 needs to be off (down), #1,2,3 need to be "not all down" (technicians words), but some up, some down (I pushed #2 up). 4. Put remote battery back in. 5. Turn power on (wall switch or breaker box). 6. WITHIN 20 SECONDS from when power is restored; on the remote push the buttons in this order: high, medium, low, high, medium, low fan speeds. For us it worked after the first time through the high, medium, low sequence. From reading other reviews, and the instruction manual, it appears that if the fan loses power (e.g. turn breaker off at box) it can cause the fan and the remote to lose connection. Now we are happy again with this fan.

This review is from: Casablanca Fans C30G707H 52" Isotope Contemporary Flush Mount Iron Ore Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Remote
Great ceiling fan! Installed in 9ft. high, 16x12 bedroom, great air flow. Great features. Easy installation. Delivered as quoted. Only con is that the light is not that bright, you will need extra lighting! Saved $$$ using amazon.com too!

This review is from: Casablanca C30G546H Isotope Brushed Cocoa Flush Mount 52" Ceiling Fan with Light & Remote Ctrl
Fan came in packed well. Electrician said it was the easiest fan he ever installed. Looks great, heavy duty feel & saved over $150.00 not buying from local stores.
