4.0 out of 5 stars How To Fix A Remote that Loses Touch With Fan
We bought this fan and installed it in our living room. Other than the fact some idiot (me) dropped a screw driver on the glass light shade before getting it up, which broke a hole in it, the installation was easy and the instructions were fine. Worked great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Check the control
If the control has a beep, you can't turn it off. It's annoying. You can't turn the fan on/off if someone is sleeping. Very poor customer service on the telephone. I have one Casablanca I'm not happy with and 3 Monte Carlo that are great and much cheaper with no beep!

4.0 out of 5 stars How To Fix A Remote that Loses Touch With Fan, June 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We bought this fan and installed it in our living room. Other than the fact some idiot (me) dropped a screw driver on the glass light shade before getting it up, which broke a hole in it, the installation was easy and the instructions were fine. Worked great.

A year later, the sun is starting to shine occasionally in the Pacific Northwest, and we wanted to use the fan. It worked fine.

Two weeks later the sun came out again, but the fan wouldn't start. We pulled the fan and checked, there is power that gets all the way to the fan. Based on the comments others have made we guessed the remote and the fan lost contact.

A call to Casablanca, and here are the steps the technician gave to reset/set the remote to work with the fan. He said there are NO dip switches in the fan (I was looking for some to pair with those in the remote).

The technician said you have only 20 seconds from step 5 (restoring power) to do step 6 (reseting remote).

The steps:

1. Power off to the fan (wall switch or breaker box).
2. Pull battery from remote.
3. Redo the dip switches in the remote. #4 needs to be off (down), #1,2,3 need to be "not all down" (technicians words), but some up, some down (I pushed #2 up).
4. Put remote battery back in.
5. Turn power on (wall switch or breaker box).
6. WITHIN 20 SECONDS from when power is restored; on the remote push the buttons in this order: high, medium, low, high, medium, low fan speeds.

For us it worked after the first time through the high, medium, low sequence.

From reading other reviews, and the instruction manual, it appears that if the fan loses power (e.g. turn breaker off at box) it can cause the fan and the remote to lose connection.

Now we are happy again with this fan.

Great ceiling fan! Installed in 9ft. high, 16x12 bedroom, great air flow. Great features. Easy installation. Delivered as quoted. Only con is that the light is not that bright, you will need extra lighting! Saved $$$ using amazon.com too!

Fan came in packed well. Electrician said it was the easiest fan he ever installed. Looks great, heavy duty feel & saved over $150.00 not buying from local stores.

This is a very high quality fan. It looks very modern (clean lines and simple design). I purchased 4 ceiling fans along with this one, I could tell the quality of this fan as soon as I opened the box.

Great fan, Great Price!

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful contemporary ceiling fan, May 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pros: looks beautiful and clean, well made construction, quiet, hugs the ceiling for a flush mount, excellent circulation even on lower speeds.

Con: much heavier than the fan I replaced, the light bulb is a special bulb that may be difficult to replace

Overall: I recommend the fan if you like a more modern look and a fan that doesn't hang low into the room. You'll need a strong person to hang it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fan for low ceilings, September 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Really great looking and effective fan. Installed two in bedrooms with 8' ceilings and overall height is good (unless you're over 6'6" tall). Easy to install, very good installation instructions. A couple of minor complaints: would like to have finish options for the blades--hope you like a chocolate brown. Another is the mount for the remote, which assumes a traditional toggle wall switch for mounting. Would it cost so much to offer an option that allows you to install the mount over a Decora switch?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Looking, March 24, 2010

Came from Del Mar very quick. A+ for that. I installed it myself (first time fan installer). However, after following the direction to the T, it didn't work. Luckily, Casablanca has the best warranty in the business--according to the tech referred to by Casablanca because of the 120 in-home service and lifetime motor. So after paying $85 to have them troubleshoot my mistake, it worked right away and was even more pleased that it wasn't just a ceiling ornament after all. The tech mentioned that I must have paid a fortune for the fan because at the local retailers, it goes for about 500-600 BUCKS! WOW! Fast forward to night-- I turned the light on and was wondering why the light was so dim and was worried because I thought I may had burned something having installed it wrong. Thats when my one year old son picks up the remote and starts playing with the buttons and I see the light get brighter and was like, WTH?!? So it took him and a tech to get this great fan working, but I end up looking like an ID-10-T in the process.

5.0 out of 5 stars How much can one love a fan?, January 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Needed a flush mount fan for my contemporary decor LR to make room for a front projector, and this fan delivered.

I took the time to go check out the Minka Aire Concept 2, Fanimation Inlet, and others to see how they looked in person. No one had one of these on display so I decided to roll the dice.

I was happy to find that this fan looks better than anything I saw in the store, provides sufficient lighting, moves a ton of air on high, and has a nice remote set up.

When I had people over to watch the bowl games, I actually got a couple of compliments on the fan. If you're looking for a flush mount fan, this is the one to get.

DelMar also delivered on time, will buy more fans from them.
