great fan
while i didn't assemble or install it, it seemed to be relatively easy. it's a great looking classic fan - and casablanca, from my experience, is as close to perfect as you can get (well worth the extra few dollars).

Four fans, three with a loud defective motor
We bought two casablanca concentra ceiling fans for adjoining rooms and and installed them. Each had a loud hum that we assume was a bad bearing. We returned both of them and ordered two more. Both new fans have a hum but only one is loud enough to be annoying. We have returned the loud fan also. Additional note added September, 2011: The Casablanca Concentra Fan...

We bought two casablanca concentra ceiling fans for adjoining rooms and and installed them. Each had a loud hum that we assume was a bad bearing. We returned both of them and ordered two more. Both new fans have a hum but only one is loud enough to be annoying. We have returned the loud fan also.
Additional note added September, 2011: The Casablanca Concentra Fan that we kept has had very moderate use, and although it still has a slight hum, it is working quietly enough to live with. We are relieved to have returned the three noisier ones. For our second fan we purchased another model Casablanca fan, the Panama, which closely resembles the Concentra in appearance. The Panama, though, has a very different motor and is twice as expensive as the Concentra. We use it daily and it has worked silently from the first day. |
