Look for loose electrical control unit,
By Ryan (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Casablanca Fan Co. Bel Air Oil-Rubbed Bronze Indoor Ceiling Fan with B619 Dark Cherry Blades
Bought 2 of these fans this past summer and each required service prior to operation. There was a subtle grinding noise that became considerably worse when the fan was reversed. Turned out the electrical control unit was loose (screws missing from factory as well as securing clips). This was the case on 2 fans, so clearly not a fluke. I have owned several Bel Air models in the past (3), never had a single problem with them. If you're looking for another fan, also steer clear of the Tercera as it has numerous electrical problems as well. The fan model is relatively new and difficult to find any "reviews." Considering that 3 of the 5 Casablanca fans I have purchased this year have required service, I think something has recently changed with their company and I don't think they are at the standard many of us long-standing customers are used to.
