Brilliant but somehow overlooked, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Casablanca (Audio CD)
I have had this brilliant album since I bought it on vinyl in the early 80's. I don't presently have a turntale so grabbed the CD when I saw it on sale recently. Hearing it again was superb, this music is still fresh and relevant as it was 25 years ago. This is a hidden gem in the Saints catalogue and I believe it to be their finest.
From the opening sounds of Follow The Leader the album rocks along with a grungy almost underlying guitar overlayed with plenty of horns used to great effect. The sound and production is kept really honest, almost raw, display Chris Bailey's superb voice at the front. Highlights are many and include the Follow the Leader, Rescue, the excellent Curtains, 1000 Faces, Come on, Senile Dementia and of course the slower title rack Casablanca.
Chris Bailey's voice has never been recorded to better effect, do yourself a favour and grab this one its an absolute gem

Bad. You only need The Saints first 2 albums and definately not this one. This is just a Chris Bailey solo album.
