5.0 out of 5 stars The photo does this stunning fan no justice
This is a georgous fan, and the photo here does it no justice. If you check around, others that look like this model cost well over $100 more, and often double... we did our research looking at many through numerous websites. If I can post my photo from our home, I will.

1.0 out of 5 stars check the control
If the control has a beep, you can't turn it off. It's annoying. You can't turn the fan on/off if someone is sleeping. Very poor customer service on the telephone. I have one Casablanca I'm not happy with and 3 Monte Carlo that are great and much cheaper with no beep!

I don't know why someone complained about the remote, in our kitchen it works from anywhere in the room. The unit uses the remote to operate the fan and the light... the wall switch will turn both off. A holder for the remote is made to mount over it's wall switch plate.

The fan comes with a halogen light bulb that seems ridiculously low in wattage but the light switch is actually a dimmer control and it can be brightened up to 100W. It took me a couple of days to figure this out.

4.0 out of 5 stars looks great, but remote is terrible; no blue wire for light--YMMV, September 4, 2009
By
Visually, this fan is stunning. For only having three blades it can move a lot of air. However I returned it due to several shortcomings.

The remote was terrible. It did not reliably function beyond 6'. I ended up having to walk around the room w/the remote trying to get the fan to turn off.

Also, my original goal was to control the fan remotely via wall mounted switches. (Leave the room, turn off the switch--not dance w/a remote.) However, this fan only has a single wire (black) for power that controls both the fan and the light; there is no way to control the two elements individually except via the remote (see above). Other manufacturers provide two leads (black, blue), and place the receiving remote b/t the fan leads and the power from the switches. Casablanca elected to integrate this feature in the fan itself.

I think the fan was simply a poor selection for the situation in which I intended to use it. Amazon was very gracious about giving me a refund. I would purchase another Casablanca fan, maybe not from the line of fans in the ~$200 price point; they seem to be electronically "crippled", making them incompatible w/any third party controls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan-tastic!, August 22, 2010

For me ceiling fans just have to be casablanca - I recently put 5 into our new home ... but this 3 blade set new standards for good lookin' for me - it really is an attractive piece. We have it in our family room which has a high cathederal ceiling. The decor is contemporary into which this fan blends perfectly. I personally really like the Casablanca remote operation. The dimable light works well although we seldom use it due to the other lighting in the room. The fan works very well with good options of speed and of course rotation to allow whatever air circulation you are looking for. The finish is superb - I am delighted with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive performance out of the box, July 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A ceiling fan project has been on my to-do list for a year now, and I finally got around to it. Visiting a few of the local lighting stores, my wife and I decided on this particular fan as best suited for our downtown Chicago loft in terms of style, performance, and price point. Installation was a snap, the only stumbling point being a bit of creative conduit-bending using only a manual bender. Fan mounting box installation aside, the actual fan component of the installation was very simple. Throw the breaker, click the remote, and away it goes. One thing that immediately struck me was how well-balanced the blades were out-of-the-box. The package comes with a balancing kit, but it wasn't necessary for our installation, and I used a 36" extension which would certainly magnify anything out of balance. I've installed a few "budget" ceiling fans in years past, and this unit has been the easiest and best performing fan I've seen so far. Definitely recommenced.

One potential caveat: I managed to roll over the remote and depress just the right button combination after it became tangled in the sheets one night. In the process, I managed to hit just the button combination to disassociate the remote from the fan's receiver. This hasn't happened since, but the incident immediately made me question my wiring ability and caused me to dig for some time to locate the product manual late at night. Simply following the rebinding instructions solved the problem instantly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good looking fan and quiet, September 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love the look of this fan. Nice clean lines and very quiet. It also moves the air very well. I have it mounted about 12' so the light seems a little dim and the light button on the remote sticks occasionally. I wish they offered a wall mounted control for this model.
