Shades of Outpost in Morocco, March 1, 2006
This review is from: Triple Moroccan Bongos
These Moroccan drums are amazing; I could not resist the temptation to buy them. I came across them while traveling along one of the Eastern Europe market place that sells Mediterranean items. My first performance was on the 25th of December in Camp Bond steel 2005. I was one of the many performers for the U.S and NATO troops at the MWR theatre in Kosovo (Kosova), playing a conga solo, I wore my Cigar smoking cap (Fez) with a Moroccan attire suit. My second tune was a semi Mediterranean beat with a touch of Latin, thanks to my Latin/Anglo counterparts who assisted me with the Spanish (acoustic guitars) and a heavy bass player; we were able to capture the audience with our unique style that even the Albanians (Islamic) were impressed with the sound of my North African drums. Another performance was scheduled with the assistance of the higher ranks of both countries as a inter culture of races/ethnic music. These drums are made of ceramic with real goat skin top. The sound quality is great and the appearance is classy and exotic. A must, for any Scorpion sign conga drummer. I guess my Spanish/Moorish (North African) blood that runs in my veins can't resist the temptation to perform with these congas every time there is a concert for the troops at any of the U.S. camps in Eastern Europe. They are not expensive and you will enjoy the sound. After this experience I'm seriously considering moving to Morocco and taking up permanent residence after my U.S. Army duty time is over.
