I'm replacing my fans with Hunter, it's a shame that a controller ruins the experience with Casablanca. The fans are actually quite good.

Casablanca W32 Inteli-Touch Wall Control

We've had the previous version of this Inteli-Touch control for a Casablanca fan over our bed since 1986. Two controls actually, one on each side of the bed that we can reach while lying down.

We use that fan every night during the warm months, and use the fan's integral lamps every day of the of the year, either once or twice per day. We've probably used the Inteli Touch control 10,000 times over its 23-year life. It has never failed to work as designed. This particular fan has a 14/2 [with ground] cable going to it, so the only way to remotely control light dimming AND fan speed is with an electronic control. In my experience, most builders/electricians wire ceiling fan boxes with 14/2 cable because it's less expensive than running 14/3. 14/3 (two hots and the neutral) would allow a separate on-off wall switch for the fan and light.

When you press the Inteli-Touch button(s) for the fan to go faster, the fan assembly emits an electronic beep. Higher fan speeds emit progressively higher pitched beeps, like going up a music scale. Telling it to reverse direction results in a short tune, using beeps. Some people will no doubt find the beeping annoying. We typically change fan speed or direction while we're in bed with the lights off; so beeping under those conditions is useful, in that you'll know what the fan is doing. E.g., to set fan speed number 3 from the off position, hold the fan speed button down until you hear three beeps.

The only problem we ever had with the Inteli touch setup was once, when a lightning surge caused the fan to suddenly come on at maximum speed. After that, I installed a separate off/on toggle switch on the fan base, where power comes into the fan. We turn that switch off when we go on vacation, and leave it on the rest of the time.

The W32 control works ONLY with Casablanca fans that were factory-equipped with the Inteli Touch feature.

From my experience, the Inteli-Touch is a 5-star product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Its a total Pain, June 28, 2011

We have had a Casablanca fan in our bedroom for years and I absolutely detest this controller. . . it has these sequences where you push the 4th button once, the top button twice and some other ^$&%^$% button three or 4 times. . . and if you push the buttons to slowly or too fast it does something else ARGGGGGGGGGgggggggg. . . I have to get out the manual every time and I still mess up. I usually just end up leaving the air conditioner on and forget about the $800 fan that was supposed to save me money!.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating controller. This should be simple!, November 25, 2011
This review is from: Casablanca W-32 InteliTouch II Wall control
I have this controller in the apartment were I live but it is far from as simple or intuitive to use as a light switch should be. The fan is a dual lamp model: upward and downward facing. Most maddening is I can't turn on both the lamps at the same time with one button press. At minimum it requires two or you have to cycle through four different settings (off, upward, downward, both). This is very annoying when your hands are full, it is dark, and all you want to do is turn the light. As a result I use X10 controllers to control several floor lamps, instead.

If there is a way to configure it to remember to always turn on both lights, I can't find how to do it. I don't have the manual and their website doesn't have it either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Casablanca W-32, November 17, 2011
This review is from: Casablanca W-32 InteliTouch II Wall control
The Casablanca W-32 control is made for selected Casablanca Fans only.

Casablanca Fans are the best on the market. We have Casablanca Fans in almost every room in our House and we save a ton of money on our energy bill every year. However when we had a problem with one of our Fans, due to a blackout, we purchased this control. As it turned out the problem wasn't the control but at the receiving end inside the Fan. I recomend to contact an expert before purchasing this as a replacement part.

We have a couple of those very old Casablanca fans with hard-to-find parts. These Inteli Touch wall controls are so convenient. I especially liked that these wall plates came in off-white (or almond) as well as white, for those of us who are not fond of bright white fixtures.

1.0 out of 5 stars Careful when purchasing Casablanca fan controlers..., October 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casablanca W-32 InteliTouch II Wall control
I have been extremely frustrated by Casablanca fans. Their fans are designed completely differently from typical ceiling fans, and in fact from each other.

I purchased a home with two Casablanca fans - but single switches wired to turn both the light and fan on/off at the same time. This switch should allow you to control the light and fan separately. Casablanca fans were "the thing" for two-wire circuits - making them a good solution for retro-fitting to a circuit that didn't have wires for controlling a ceiling light and fan. UNfortunately, none of the Casablanca accessories will work with anyone elses fans, and vice se versa. Further, Casablanca accessories don't necessarily work with Casablanca fans.

It turns out that there are at least three different generations of Casablanca fans, and you need to buy the wall switch designed for your fan. In order to identify the correct switch, you need to take the fan apart and find the model number. You then identify which series the motor is from the model number, and then go find a corresponding switch that will work with that specific motor.

As far as I was concerned, it was easier to by new (standard) fans with wireless remotes than screw around with Casablanca's over priced, obsolete (and worse) - proprietary technology.
