5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and eye-opening!
Light hearted is right! This is a very funny, thought-provoking, educational and amazing book. If you like a "laugh out loud" read with plenty of historical references, you will love this book. Low has done meticulous research with very surprising findings. This book takes you on a voyage of discovery. Marvelous stories about famous (and infamous) librarians abound,...

1.0 out of 5 stars she is a librarian?
how can a librarian use the phrase "librarians that have appeared" (page 85) when obviously it should be "librarians who"? she also uses too many exclamation points. I was disappointed after reading the good reviews and the title was certainly enticing.

You will never look at your local librarians in quite the same way after you read this!

An absolutely delightful publication that entertains you and educates you all in one breath! The title alone lets you know that this will be no dry, run-of-the-mill reference book, but a revealing, enlightening, and quite humorous look at the world of librarianship. Low did a wonderful job of sharing insightful, well-rounded information that breaks all the stereotypes; when the library closes and the cat glasses come off, librarians can be just as wild, comical, dangerous and -- dare I say it -- sexy as the next person! Low's book shows us the long thread of librarianship woven through the fabric of history, alternately making us laugh, learn and blush with facts, jokes, poems and stories. A wonderful read delivered in bite-sized chunks! Thank you, Kathy, for helping librarians take their hairbuns down!
