Editorial Reviews

Review

Christman explains the symbols on ancient Casas Grandes pottery pieces including creation myths concerning gods, humankind, and the universe. -- REFERENCE AND RESEARCH BOOK NEWS, August 2002

From the Publisher

The 1000 photographs of more than 300 pieces of pottery are intended to make this work an enduring reference. All the significant symbols are shown about each entire piece, and not just one view. Not only does this enhance description and appreciation, it allows the serious collector to compare these pieces with others. The pictures are unretouched. Especial care was taken in color reproductions. The paper is such that there is no "bleeding" through to the other side.

No other book has attempted a complete interpretation of the symbols of a Pre-Columbian culture as represented on its pottery.
