5.0 out of 5 stars Great product.
You wet the inside of the grip and the paddle shaft with water and have to work them into position. Worth the effort because they stay nicely in place. They provide a positive grip wet or dry, allowing you relax your fingers with confidence and thus reduce fatigue.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does its job, but inside material tears easilty
Pretty much as the title says. They were tight putting them on, which is probably ok. Anything underneath where they might rub, the liner material tears and when attempting to adjust them if they move the torn liner material can bunch up creating little uncomfortable mounds underneath. Would pay a little more for a more durable product.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a relief!, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Yak Grips (Misc.)
I'm relatively new to kayaking and I was getting blisters which made paddling very painful. I was starting to develop calluses and thought I would have to resort to wearing gloves. I'm glad I found these Yakgrips instead. They were a terrific solution. They provided just the right amount of cushioning. I have small hands and they didn't increase the size of the grip too much for me.

They were, however, very difficult to get onto the paddles, but once in place they stayed where I put them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Product, great service, July 10, 2010

Got my first kayak this summer and enjoy the kayak but was getting blisters on my hand. The yakgrips have solved this problem very nicely. Comfortable, reasonably easy to install (but you really do need to follow the directions and wet/soak grips to get them to slide on), and easy to hold (I see other reviewers felt they were too thick but they fit my hands very nicely). My only complaint-- after six weeks one of the two grips started to separate at the seam and couldn't really be used any longer. I expected them to be more durable than that. I will say though that I contacted the company (Cascade) and they very nice and immediately sent me a replacement grip with expedited shipping at no charge at all. Very pleased with this simple product which does exactly what I wanted it to do, and can't beat the service when I had a problem.

My husband and I bought two of these grips and were sent one. I wrote to the seller indicating that a mistake was made and was pleasantly surprised that they sent the extra grips but also as an apology sent an oar clip as well.

The grips work great and prevent blisters from forming allowing for hours of paddling without discomfort. I would recommend this product and the seller, as well. Amazon.com is also a great place to shop; they are very responsive and we have never had an issue with delivery within the time expected. Keep up the great service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Won't paddle again without them., April 7, 2010

I got into kayaking a few months after my parents purchased theirs. I went out with them and swapped paddles to test a Werner and while I eventually got one of those, it was the Yakgrips that first caught my attention. I wouldn't say that paddling without them was uncomfortable, but I certainly wouldn't have described it as comfortable either. I love the feel of these while I paddle. They give me a better grip, pad the area beneath my hands, and at least from my experience they have gone almost a year without any slippage whatsoever. Also if it's hot out I like to dunk them every now and again to keep my hands cool(er). I could see them taking some time to adjust to for some people as they obviously make the paddle thicker in that area. Ensuring that you have them lined up properly for your paddling technique/preference is important. I won't paddle without them now.

Great product
Good stitching, strong material, and the red color matches my Kayak, Nice!
It does more around much, really I do not know what that other reviewer was complaining about.
I can go much further now.
Thanks
Brian

Everyone is either going to love these...or not...I LOVE them. I'm an endurance paddler and found these just before my third 100 mile kayak race. My hands WERE (please note past tense!) a moonscape of callouses and blisters. I have never had my hands feel as good as they did at the end of the race!!! Now, other parts of my body still hurt like heck...but the hands were incredibly good. They are worth trying out if you do any kind of distance paddling. Yes, they will move on you, but like someone else pointed out, it only takes a second to readjust them. And for me the long distance comfort way outweighs that slight inconvenience. I've now bought pairs for all my and my husband's paddles and have given several sets to friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars These are great however..., October 16, 2010

I tried many gloves however I could not find ones I liked or were comfortable. These grips have been great to use. Very comfortable. The one thing I can't understand is how someone could design these to be attached to the paddle by moistening them with water to help them slide on. That may work for bicycle grips and such but REALLY... do they not think that quite possibly the paddle may just happen to get wet? It is kayaking after all! They should design them to grip when wet. What were they thinking? That is the biggest problem with these is they will slip and move around unless you are super careful and don't get them wet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for wing paddle, October 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yak Grips (Misc.)
Trying to use the Yak grips on a wing paddle [Epic midwing] was a fiasco. They slip and slide, because the paddle shaft stays wet, I guess. The increased leverage for torqueing while paddling leads to a shift in the angle of the paddle faces unexpectedly. I would not recommend their use for this type of paddle.
