Panasonic's HydroWave bearing addresses the traditional weakness of sleeve bearings... axial friction. The thrust plate "floats" on a circulating film of oil, which reduces the axial friction and prolongs bearing life. The HydroWave pattern on the bearing almost eliminates thrust plate contact.
