A better understanding of why relationships work or do not.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Case Against Divorce (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has explained in an intelligent manner why some relationships struggle. It gives an honest and sometimes brutal opinion of people. I was surprised to find out that the way family and friends react can impact and even help destroy a marriage. My wife left me and I know she was supported through this when her friends could have pushed her to get help. Instead, they told her things would be okay without giving her reasons why things would be okay. They were there for her for themselves. Dont get me wrong, I accept my responsibility for our struggles 50-50 but did not get a chance to fix my marriage soon enough. I still have some hope. If your marriage is struggling read this and have your spouse read this. Have your family read this. Dont let anyone impact your marriage without some intelligent thought behind their words.

A must read book!,

If you are considering divorce or are going through a divorce, this is a must read book! This book does a wonderful job describing the Lie and Lures of divorce and why your marriage is worth saving. After having an unwanted divorce served upon me I feel much better knowing it's easier to try and work things out instead of just throwing in the towel. Anyone who wants a divorce should read this, I wish my husband would have!

Tremendously helpful. My marriage is 100% better.,

My 20-year marriage seemed hopeless. I had gotten a list of divorce lawyers. Then I read this book. My husband and I decided that maybe there was hope. Our feelings didn't change right away, but by changing our attitude about marriage and divorce, we found the strength to try harder to make it work. The book was the main stimulus to help us do this. We are so glad it helped, and so are our children.

Logic helps provide a case against divorce, eases the pain,
By A Customer
This review is from: Case Against Divorce (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book because I wanted to read a book from the perspective of "working it out". I expected to be able to argue with any reason for staying together because I had been betrayed. I'm grateful that I read it with an open mind because I found most of my reasons right there and the author provided solid evidence to challenge my justifications. I still don't know where I stand as far as getting a divorce or staying married, but it stopped me in my tracks. I was so hurt that I wanted to cut my husband of my life, just to be rid of the pain. But, even though the divorce papers may be signed, there is still a deep loss. It's a popular misconception that once the divorce is signed, there will be relief. Even though my husband betrayed me, I saw that I was not 100% the victim and thousands of people have experienced what I have and that there is hope. This is a great book to read if when you think that you're sure you want a divorce. You may change your mind. Even if you don't, this book does give a case against divorce.

This book has helped me,

I have been able to really learn a great deal about how others in my life affect my relationship. I also have been able to put into words what I was feeling - my husband read it but felt it was just too conservative and didn't really support all the reasons to stay married, but it did get us talking. It made me feel I wasn't crazy to try to stay married - and that for anyone to consider a divorce without truly trying to work things out is a big cop out.

Excellent ideas for those contemplating divorce!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Case Against Divorce (Mass Market Paperback)
As a divorce mediator for Divorce Without Battle, I frequently deal with clients who are undecided about taking this big step (divorce is often equated with death as to the impact it has on the family). Without hesitation, I heartily recommend this book to both spouses. Often they see that there is still hope and, although I lose clients this way, it is tremendously rewarding to see marriages saved!

Everyone going through divorce needs to read this book.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Case Against Divorce (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this book only after my 30 year marriage dissolved. I might have been able to save my marriage if I had found it sooner. Now as a private detective, I recommend this book to all my clients and also as a helpful book for all couples to read in general. I wish the author had included her address.

This is a great book. Not much in American Society deals with this side of Divorice. This was one tangible book that helped our marriage several years ago. I highly recommend it to anyone contemplating Divorice.

A book anyone contemplating divorce should read. Even if you feel divorce is inevitable, it will at least warn you what you are up against.

If you have kids, and considering divorce, this is a must read!,
This review is from: Case Against Divorce (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are immature and just want out, and your partner is shallow enough to have also not taken his/her vows seriously, AND you don't have kids in the marriage, then you can take the easy way out and just split. however, kidless and unhappy, this book still will give you a needed side to read that is quite contrary to the legal fabric of this country, where divorce attorneys get fat from making divorce easy. there is no easy divorce!!!! emotionally, it will wreck you.
if you have children in the marriage and are to the point of divorce, then it should be mandated by a judge (if not by a friend or family member) that you read this book. the reality is clear: divorce wrecks children! (not just in the short-term, but LONG-TERM). dr. medved makes this unmistakably clear. any marriage can improve when both parties work at it, and this book will give you the push to get busy doing just that. anyone who has experienced the reality of divorce should read this book and cram it under the nose of the divorce attorney that handled their case. if attorneys have any soul (doubtful), it might make them stop taking divorce cases. |
