I could not put this book down. I absolutely devoured it! It is an exhaustive investigation of the evidence for the existence of the historical-as well as-spiritual Christ. The skepticisms explored (about Christ) are extremely well processed. The only hole in the investigative technique is the fact that the writer only interviews great scholars who have already had a profound spiritual experience with God, and that may weaken the reader's trust in the objectivity of the investigative process. Nonetheless, those 13 scholars are still able to field the difficult questions, as they themselves had to ask the same tough questions at one time or another in their own spiritual and scholarly journeys. I think that this is a great book for believers and skeptics alike, because it forces the reader to really look at the ancient documentation of the Christ story and to ask all of the hard questions about whether or not the story of Jesus Christ is real history or just interesting mythology, and why. A fascinating ride. I highly recommend it. The book's massive bibliography is an excellent springboard for further reading on this subject.

Mr. Strobel writes in a manner befitting a newspaperman. Indeed, he tells us that he is writing about the subject in the same way he would write about a crime or the investigation of a crime. Thus, each chapter starts out by drawing a parallel to an event or person about which he has written or had personal knowledge. Every possible aspect of his subject is covered, all the way from examining the origin and veracity of the Gospels to the effects being felt to this day stemming from the teachings and actions of this most remarkable man. The author starts the book from the standpoint of being an agnostic and attempts to maintain the aura of disdain so becoming to an agnostic or, even, an atheist. Brick by brick we see the facade of impersonal newspaperman being dismantled as his reasons for unbelief are routinely destroyed by facts and logic. In the end, Lee Strobel becomes a new man as a result of his personal encounter with a living being who wants only the best for Lee Strobel. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and expect to give many copies as gifts.

I really enjoyed this book. As an agnostic I found it to have very good arguments for and about Christ. But they were all very pro-Christ. If you accept the begining chapters that the Gospels are completely factual then yes all the other argument make sense but then most things in religion make sense it you accept the basic tenent that the source your citing is reliable. One of the weakest arguements was "they wouldn't right it if it weren't true" because they died a horrible death. Yes, no, maybe... But there are plenty of other very good arguments. If your interested in the existence of god and/or Christ this would be a good book to read.
