This review is from: Case and the Dreamer: Volume XIII: The Complete Stories of Theodore Sturgeon (Hardcover)
Theodore Sturgeon was not only a Grand Master of science fiction but one of the most outstanding prose lyricists in any genre. These are the last stories in the last volume of the ambitious 13-volume series that collects all his short fiction. The mix is eclectic, ranging from classic sci-fi themes to westerns to noir to case studies of the human condition. The master's touch is still evident, including in previously unpublished material. Since the death of Paul Williams, Noel Sturgeon does a fine job of providing end notes and commentary on each story, putting some in context and showing how others pick up Sturgeon's favorite themes. Few sci-fi authors would merit this mammoth labor of love, but this is clearly one of them.
