4.0 out of 5 stars Unique bag
This messenger bag its huge. I have had bags before, but they felt more corporate, and this one gives me a more individual feel and look.

My one complain is the closing method, its too much of a pain to close it using the lock, so I usually end up just using the velcro, which can lead to a constant clanging noise as your walk (Which can get irritating)...

3.0 out of 5 stars If it weren't for that dang buckle!
The bag is great! There's plenty of pockets and I've gotten more than a few compliments on the look of it. I just have one question... Why in the world did the designers put that stupid strap buckle on this bag? That is the absolute WORSE buckle device I've ever seen. I can get it to work okay when the bag is empt, but how useful is that. I never use buckle and thank...

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique bag, September 22, 2008

This messenger bag its huge. I have had bags before, but they felt more corporate, and this one gives me a more individual feel and look.

My one complain is the closing method, its too much of a pain to close it using the lock, so I usually end up just using the velcro, which can lead to a constant clanging noise as your walk (Which can get irritating)

Pocketing info:

There is a large pocket on the back with a Velcro close, Its large enough for papers, and can fit wider things but they will bulge.

At each end there is a Velcro pocket, fairly deep, and the one at the back is wider (good size for sunglasses)

Under the main flap is space for three pens, an ID badge, and two other pockets. The main compartment is vary large, it is divided into one space for a laptop, with a cloth strap that Velcros in to better hold the laptop, and the rest of the compartment is just as deep and I have used ti to hold upwards of 3-4 big books with out issue (Although they are still heavy :) )

5.0 out of 5 stars Way cool laptop bag, May 28, 2008
I was a little wary of buying a laptop bag without seeing it in person first, but I am really happy I went ahead and got this one. It's very well made and protects my 15.4" Dell Inspiron perfectly, plus it has a lots of little pockets on it that are perfect for holding other things - my power adapter, USB drive, pens, etc. Not to mention that it just looks really cool. I've gotten quite a few comments on it at work and whereve else I take it. I honestly couldn't be happier with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome bag, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Case Logic SNMB-15F 15.4-Inch Fullsize Canvas Messenger Bag with Laptop Storage (Dark Gray) (Personal Computers)
This messenger bag is awesome. I was originally worried that there weren't going to be enough pockets, but there are more than enough. There are three pencil pockets that can hold two medium pens or pencils, there is an ID pocket on the divider between the laptop sleeve and the main pocket, there is a pocket on the back, a zipper pocket in the front, two side pockets that fit the ipod video in a thick silicone case perfectly and three small pockets for other stuff like 3x5 cards. It can carry a three inch binder, a laptop, and two or three other small text books easily. I put five good sized textbooks in it and still had enough room for my laptop in its thick carrying case. One of the most important features for me is the closer: under the pattern side is a small piece of velcro incase you don't want to use the buckle and the buckle is great because it is hard to open while being carried, so no one can pick through your bag. The down side to the buckle is that it is a little hard to get closed sometimes because the metal is just far enough off the fabric to shove the strap through. The bag overall is constructed very well, so if you want a nearly bullet proof canvas bag this is the bag to buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great.... with some minor flaws, November 23, 2008

This review is from: Case Logic SNMB-15F 15.4-Inch Fullsize Canvas Messenger Bag with Laptop Storage (Dark Gray) (Personal Computers)
I want to give it 4.5 stars, only for the simple reason that only one side has the metal fixture for the strap so I don't know how long this bag will hold up. The build quality seems good, but with the strap only stitched on I have a feeling it'll fall off me like other bags I've owned in the past.

The picture doesn't quite look like the product. It is a bit lighter in the dark gray which is fine.
The bag is extremely comfortable on my shoulders. Very roomy (fits my macbook pro and some textbooks just fine), but it doesn't look much bigger than any other messenger bag I've owned. I constantly get complements on it. The bottle opener is a bit gimmicky and I tried to open something with it once with no success. There are tons of pockets that fit all kinds of things. Honestly it

4.0 out of 5 stars Good bag, minor flaw, September 4, 2010

This review is from: Case Logic SNMB-15F 15.4-Inch Fullsize Canvas Messenger Bag with Laptop Storage (Dark Gray) (Personal Computers)
I bought this bag to use at school. First impression on arrival was that the design looked like somebody drew it on with silver sharpie and spilled some paint to make random splotches. I had hoped the pattern was stitched on, but alas, that was not the case. I went over it with a black sharpie to make the design a little less obnoxious.

On the inside, the bag is nice and roomy with a padded compartment for a laptop and plenty of pockets for pens and other little things. The main compartment can hold several binders or books, a power adapter, and my lunch. Pockets on the ends are good for a water bottle, ipod, or camera. The end pockets are deep and have a flap to keep anything inside of them nice and secure. Slim pocket on the back is great for documents that you need quick access to.

The overall build is pretty good. I walked through a thunderstorm and the bag kept the contents dry, though I don't think the bag is waterproof. Brief forays into inclement weather are probably okay though.

The bad news, as mentioned in other reviews, is the flap securing strap. I traced the problem to the metal buckle. It's riveted on at all four corners, and in the middle of the top and bottom sides. The rivet catches the edge of the strap and makes it hard to insert. If they changed the strap design to fold over itself instead of having an edge, it would probably fix the problem. That or removing the middle bottom rivet. Incidentally, after about two weeks, the cloth that attached to that rivet pulled out on my bag. Strangely enough, the hole does not look torn, suggesting that the rivet missed the cloth in that section. That may just have been a defect in my bag though.

The other minor thing to note is that the shoulder strap is not padded, so if you want something cushy on your shoulders, you'll have to get that separately. I use mine as is and haven't had any problems unless I overload the bag and make it really heavy.

4.0 out of 5 stars COLOR of bag is actually washed out GREY, May 15, 2009

BEWARE, the color that you see online here is not the color that you'll be greeted by once u receive this bag lol. Its not very bad looking though, just that the color is more on the faded out side like a greyish color, so its not as dark looking but its still attractive as ppl have completed the bag (as opposed to complementing me).

Besides that its very durable as i carry my heavy arse laptop in it every now and then and it shows no wear nor tear. Also that metal you see on the side (at top) is a bottle opener, pretty cool but i dont drink lol

Oh and it has big compartments inside, the one which is padded is for laptop, and the other is not padded is for books n stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bag! The Best I've Had!, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Case Logic SNMB-15F 15.4-Inch Fullsize Canvas Messenger Bag with Laptop Storage (Dark Gray) (Personal Computers)
This bag is great! I have a 17 inch powerbook and I wasn't sure if it would fit, but after reading other reviews I decided to go ahead and try based on reading it would... And it fits very well. I'm a graphic artist so I am also always hauling around sketch books and other supplies and this bag has room for it all! There's a very well padded slide pocket for your laptop with a velcro strap to keep it in place. It has a large base pocket, there is on zipper compartment on the front of the bag along with three smaller pen/pencil/random pockets. It even has a nice velcro pocket on the back. There's a side pocket on either side; great for cell phones and cables/adaptors. The strap and bad itself are very sturdy and well made, plus it looks cool too. And I have to say the bottle opener on the strap made me smile! This IS a large bag, but if that OK by you then this is a must have!

2.0 out of 5 stars Squeeks, Splits, and Unravels, May 27, 2011

Initially, I really liked this bag, but after having it for 1 year, I have some fairy serious complaints. The bag is still functional; just not as good as others I have owned.

CONS
1. Squeeks. Maybe I got a bad buckle, but when I walk, the up and down motion stretches the strap on the buckle and it squeeks. Really annoying when I walk.
2. Cannot replace with your own strap. The strap is hard-sewn in. That makes it super strong, but you cannot change to your own strap.
3. Splits. Maybe this is a little picky, but the pen/card holder parts on the outside portion are single stitched and they will split after you put pens in them a while. Same with the card area. What you end up, then, is a very large, shallow pocket on the outside eventually. Pens won't stay put.
4. Unravels. What happens is that in high wear areas, the nylon inner lining and the canvas wear down and you get what happens when the inside of a jacket starts to disintegrate. After a year, it isn't big yet, but I am sure this won't last a super long time. The wear points are the large hip pocket, near the short velcro piece AND outside of the large internal pocket, where the velcro rubs agains the outer wall.

WARRANTY IS GOOD, I HOPE
Called Case logic and they sent my warranty forms in 3 minutes. They just want 2 photos and 48 hours to let me know the next steps, which is so much better than many places that want me to send it back and to wait 6-8 weeks.

PROS
Now the plusses: I did like the interesting closure mechanism, which is much better than velcro. When you really want your bag to stay shut, having a physical closure with metal and nylon is great. The bag is very big, has good cushioning inside, and lots of little pockets. I love the pockets, which I will list here:

Under the flap:
A) One large laptop compartment, comfortably fit my macbook pro 13in. Probably fits 15in. I haven't checked any larger. It has some small padding on the bottom which will cushion when laying down a bag.
B) large pocket. I think I have fit about 2 inches of papers (think manilla envelopes there).
C) zippered pocket. This cannot fit 8x11 papers, but is great for stuffing, in my case, a trackball, macbook ac adapter, some cereal bars, etc. Stuff does jiggle around.
D) on the outside wall, there are 3 non-zipped pockets. One for pens (splits, see below), and two about 2inx2in that can fit business cards, receipts, etc. I keep chapstick, spare batteries, etc.
Outside the flap:
A) small deep (3in x 2in) pocket near the buckle with a velcro closure. I put 3 advil/vitamin in this.
B) another small deep one.
C) A full length pocket (by your hip) that can fit about 1in of files.

I bought this bag based on the almost 5 star review on Amazon.com, but now don't like it that much.

2.0 out of 5 stars Returning this bag, October 19, 2011

I should have listened to the reviews before I bought this item. People weren't lying about the buckle, I first thought that it wouldn't be a big deal, but it really is a pain to close. You can just use the Velcro but it wouldn't feel right. I took this bag with me on campus with my laptop and 2 books and I did not enjoy carrying it around. There is no padding for your shoulder and it is not comfortable at all. It looks good in the pictures but it just didn't work out for me.
