4.0 out of 5 stars Great bag, crappy strap
Stylish. Professional. Many compartments. Fits a 17" Macbook Pro without thinking twice. Plenty of padding. My only complaint? The right side of the chest strap snapped. I think it's reparable, but if this is a dealbreaker, consider a different bag.

1.0 out of 5 stars Strap broke first day I used it
The strap that holds the two shoulder straps together in front broke the first day I biked to class with the backpack. Looks good, but extremely shoddy design.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BACK PACK, December 1, 2009

i have a huge 17" dell precision. This pack is professional looking and doesn't make me feel like a high schooler with a huge dorkey backpack. (i'm a grad student)

I feel it is rather a mature looking bag. also what is cool is that it is hard to overstuff the thing. It keeps a slim looking profile on your back.

I would recommend this bag for anyone who has had problems looking for a cool bag to lug their hugh/ heavy computer around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really pleased, August 1, 2010
I am really pleased with this backpack. I shopped in local stores for a day, and got this pack instead. So glad I did. My massive 17" laptop fits nicely. A second laptop fits beside it. Room for my pens, bose headphones and Kindle. Yet the pack still retains a relatively thin profile. Solid construction. Exactly what I needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for 17 inch laptop, May 11, 2010

This review is from: Case Logic BBP-17 17-Inch Laptop Backpack (Black) (Personal Computers)
I had used a traditional laptop bag with my 17 laptop but found the stress on my back and shoulder to be a problem. The traditional bag was good for holding a lot of files and books and papers which I'm certain contributed to it's tremendous weight. Regardless, the backpack is great! I was easily able to store all of my miscellaneous items (pens, power supply, mouse, highlighters, business cards, external hard drive, usb drive, head phones, etc.). It has room in the middle compartment for a few "thin" (30 sheets or less) file folders, and a magazine or notebook. The main compartment accommodates not only the laptop, but has room for a book, note book, or folio. I'm really glad I made the switch and so is my back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Laptop Backpack Remains Balanced When Loaded, March 4, 2010

I wanted a well built backpack that had pockets that would allow the backpack to be packed in such a way that the load was distributed vertically. My previous backpack when loaded became cumbersome due to the load settleing to the bottom making the pack unnecessarily thick and bottom heavy.

This Case Logic backpack definitely fits the bill at a decent price as far as cargo space-- I can fit my massive laptop, its massive power supply and loads of extra junk in its many pockets without having to stuff it all in.

It's pretty comfortable to wear. I walk 2 miles to work each day and that's pretty demanding of a backpack. The shoulder straps have occasionally cut off circulation to my arms over longer walks, but overall it does a pretty good job.

The biggest problem I have with this backpack is its lack of water resistance. If I wanted a waterproof backpack I'd have budgeted twice the price, but this thing's practically a sponge. Sweat from my back soaks right through the bag into the laptop compartment regardless of how heavily or lightly I'm sweating. I've had to get into the habit of packing the laptop lid-side down so the sweat won't seep into the machine, and even then I have to wipe the lid down every time I get to the office and set up my workstation. I don't even want to know what happens when it's drizzling outside.

Though it's cheap and the cargo space is good, I can't say I recommend this backpack. My last backpack-- smaller for a much smaller laptop-- was more comfortable, better padded, and I never risked water damage to my computer.

It's a nice, standard computer bag. The plus is it looks a little nicer than many others so is a little more formal for going to professional meetings. Doesn't look like you should be backpacking with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fully capable of it's asked to do, December 1, 2010

This review is from: Case Logic BBP-17 17-Inch Laptop Backpack (Black) (Personal Computers)
I bought this bag partly from lugging a roller laptop bag around for work and personal use. It's all black without any crazy designs with extra large zipper handles. This bag holds my 17" wide screen laptop with no problems. The pouch made to hold the laptop is set with velcro on both left and right sides. So I am able to adjust it for the 17" and my work laptop which is a 15" and it holds it snug. The same zipper section contains a large area to place folders or binders. I can fit a 1" binder with my laptop and still have a little extra space. An extra bonus is that it also has a thin ouch that goes half way down, extra pockets never hurt.

The middle zipper is a lot thinner but contains a sleeve to slide in a notebooks or other similar objects. It also has a red pocket that goes almost all way way down, again nothing wrong with extra dividers/pockets. There is a mesh water bottle holder on either side of the bag, can be closed using a zipper. I just use them as extra pockets for little things.

The third pocket is where all the small items go. It has two red soft material lined pockets. I place my portable hard-drive in one and my blackberry in the other. It does have 2 sleeves for business cards but they don't hold to well, those pockets aren't rigid. It does have a large deep pocket, which is my power supply goes. That area is shares the same space as the 4th and smallest zipper. It has locations for 3 pens or pencils but this is attached to the red interior pocket. I have enough room to place a webcam along without crushing anything, it's pretty roomy. There is a bonus zipper on the lip that takes very small items. I place my USB flash drives, keys, and such.

The 4th zipper (bottom horizontal zipper) is the smallest pocket. This pocket shares the same bottom space of the 3rd zipper section. Since I don't have too much room left since my power supply eats up all that space. I use it for USB cables, headphones, etc. It does come with a strap to go across the chest but I removed it. Good thing it is removable without breaking or altering anything.

Overall I am very pleased with this bag given all that I can fit into it. I have been able to use each zipper and pouch without a problem. Almost everything from my roller laptop bag I use for business can fit in this backpack. I've used it on a daily basis and it's comfortable. It does have large pads to cushion your back while carrying it. I have not had to deal with rain or snow, so I do not know how it will hold against the weather just yet.

I really liked this backpack, the only thing is that I thought it would be a bit smaller and turned out to be bigger than I imagined, in the images gives the impression of being more compact.
