Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
The Case Logic Compact Camcorder Case is, as its name suggests, a compact case that is well suited to smaller full camcorders, as well as portable and pocket camcorders. I have been using it with a Canon Vixia HF R20, which measures about 4.5"L x 2.75"D x 2"H. The inner pocket accommodates this device snugly. It might handle a camcorder slightly longer in any measurement (~.25"-.5"), but will not likely fit anything much longer than the stated dimensions.

The design surprised me somewhat. When I first unzipped the zipper, which unzips one side of the case, the side pivots outward by the bottom seam. Two elastic straps prevent the side from flopping out completely. The side that pivots out has a formed pocket, into which the camcorder fits. This pocket is where the padding for the camcorder is located. There is an inner pocket to this formed pocket, where you can easily keep a spare (if slim) battery, extra SD cards, etc. The formed pocket is lined with a soft mesh fabric, which is breathable and soft enough not to mar or scratch your camcorder. There is a little bit of room at the very bottom of the case, which may accommodate a thicker battery if yours does not work well in the inner side pocket, perhaps a USB cable, and even a charger if it is no larger than 1" in height and with a 5" x 2.5" footprint. The user's manual might fit in the bottom too, or up against the side opposite the one that opens.

The zipper is heavy duty and is the standard 2-zipper (with zipper pulls) type of opening. A detachable shoulder strap is provided, as well as an integrated belt loop (side opposite from the one that zips open) and carrying handle. The ends of the handle are what the shoulder strap attaches to, so when the shoulder strap is used, the handle pulls tight to the top of the case. Pretty cool design. The 2 sides of the outer shell are a textured black rubberized material, and the center portion is black nylon. A black toned Case Logic logo is located on the side that opens.

In use, I found the Compact Camcorder Case to be well made, of high quality materials, and durable. It was easy to access my camcorder, and the camcorder was well protected while in the case.

Here are some specific Pros and Cons:

Pros:

Quality materials: soft lining, formed sides, rugged zippers all speak to the good quality of the materials used in the case.

Protective design: the rugged, formed sides offer good protection for the contents, especially when the bag might bounce or bang around as you are sightseeing, or get squeezed into larger luggage. The stiffness of the sides helps disperse any pressure applied to the case from other objects.

Compact: this is not the case for carrying every accessory ever invented for your camcorder, not for large camcorders. It is compact for those occasions when you want good protection with minimal space usage.

Understated: black all around, except the pocket lining on the inside, which is a turquoise blue. No bright logos that scream: EXPENSIVE CAMCORDER INSIDE!!! Many travel sites advise using understated designs such as this to not attract thieves while traveling.

Handle pulls tight to the case when shoulder strap is used: this is a pretty cool feature that makes the case a little less "grabbable" by someone that shouldn't be grabbing your stuff.

Good value: the case is not expensive and being a smart design and made of durable materials, provides a good value.

Great warranty: Case Logic usually provides a generous warranty on their products, and this one is no exception. Twenty-five years. That's a statement about their confidence in their products, right there.

Cons:

Can't find any.

Bottom Line:

If you need a compact, well-made, low-key case for a small camcorder, then I recommend this one. Case Logic has been making cases for a long time, and they really do come up with designs that are smart and logical, and are backed by long warranties.

This is extremely similar to the Case Logic MSEC-4 Camcorder Case, and both better & worse in comparison. I love the compact size, generally good protection and tilt out pocket for easy access. I especially like the very slightly longer size that fits my medium size battery that the MSEC-4 did not. But the almost sticky rubbery feel of the sides and handle, versus a smooth hard shell, make it seem not so nice. But functionally speaking, I am happy with it. I still prefer the MSEC-4's polished feel and best protection. But I choose this when I want to use my larger battery and still like it for its functionality & quite good protection.

It has easy tilt out access, a belt loop, an interior pocket for extra SD cards, a reasonable strap, decent zipper, and sufficiently thick rubber and foam protection to protect better than many other alternatives I have considered. But the sides are not "hard shell" as the description states, but are instead a softer rubber that does give into compression (compared to the MSEC-4). So just don't put it at the bottom of your luggage, but should be plenty for normal toting. The handle is very tight but workable. Overall, I am confident in good protection, but not perfectly stellar like the MSEC-4.

It fits my Sony HDR-CX160 HD Handycam Camcorder camcorder really well, which is a normal sized, current HD camcorder, with either the small (Sony NP-FV50) or medium (Sony NP-FV70) battery attached. This is slightly longer than the MSEC-4, and just barely fits with the NV70 medium battery attached compared to the MSEC-4 which fit only the small battery. However as it is a tight fit, it is slightly less protective, but I am not concerned for normal toting. Dimensions as I measure it, are as follows. External: 6 3/4" long x 4 3/4" tall x 3" thick. Internal pocket: 5" long (with some flexibility) x 2 1/4" - 2 3/4" thick varying from the edges to middle flexibility x 2 1/4" - 3" tall varying from the top of the pocket side to the room to the top of the case.

I purchased a new Nikon Coolpix P7700 a few months ago and since this was a new model, there wasn't much info on the size of case needed. I purchased the smaller version of this case first but after receiving it realized the camera wouldn't fit. I ordered this one and it works well for the camera with camera strap attached and there is enough room for a spare battery, memory card and USB cable, however there is not enough room for the battery charger. Case is a hybrid between a hard and soft case. The front and back are a dense, firm, rubbery foam and the edges are soft nylon canvas material. Included with the case is a case strap with quick disconnects.
The internal pocket in which the camera goes has additional padding.
Overall, a good, well constructed case and a good value for the price. If you need maximum protection and a waterproof case, look at the Pelican or Mil/Spec cases.

This Case Logic camera case is compact and provides good protection for small-size camcorder or digital cameras. It comes with a top handle and a shoulder strap for easy carrying around. It also has an interior slip pocket for storing SD cards / cables.

The main drawback of this case is its relatively small internal dimension which is 5.1 x 2.8 x 3.5". While this would fit many popular camcorders, I have difficulty fitting my Sony HDR-XR160 High-Definition Handycam Camcorder (Black) particularly with the extended life battery attached. The only way I could fit the Sony camcorder is to remove the battery and store it separately. This would be quite inconvenient for usage on-the-go as we would have to attach / detach the battery after every use.

My suggestion is to make sure your camcorder would fit the internal dimension before making a purchase decision.

P.S. I have also attached a picture of this camcorder bag in the product image so you can get an idea of how tightly fit it.

Excellent construction, perfect size for my Canon R400, extra batteries, and SD card reader. Case Logic is a trustworthy brand. Glad I bought it rather than some cheap no name.

They product is very protective, but for the regular size camera to fit, you have to take the battery out first.

Went to the store looking for a case to put my Garmin Nuvi 1750LM 5" GPS and found that many of the cases for them are "flat" and could not store the powere cable and small plastic mounting bracket that comes with the device. I went through the camera case aisle and found the Case Logic EHC-103. It has a small inside pocket that appears that it was made for the power cord and the device slips nicely into the inside of the semi hard case. It has a carrying strap that would allow me to use the GPS in pedestrian mode is I ever take it along walking. My larger Sony camcorder (HDR-SR11) is a little big for this size case and the zipper will not close on it. I suspect this case is designed for a more compact camcorder and would serve that well. Overall, a nice sized case that I have found a dual purpose for.

I use this case to carry my Sony compact camcorder. It has a spacious compartment that features a tilt-out pocket for quick access; its external dimensions are 6.8 x 3.3 x 4.9'' and internally it measures 5.1 x 2.8 x 3.5." If you already have a camcorder, make sure that this fits into this description. The case is roomy; I think most camcorders will fit in. The case also has an interior slip pocket for cable and an extra SD card. The downside of the case is that swivels and their attachment points are made of lightweight plastic. I like the detachable shoulder strap which makes it easy to carry when I am travelling, and the overall quality of the product is great: Recommended

2. Sony Carrying Pouch for Handycam Camcorder (Black)

I own a Panasonic TM55 camcorder and although it came with a free case when I purchased it from Amazon I like this little sturdy case better for portability. It has enough room and padding for the camcorder (the camcorder tilts out when you open the cover for easy accessiblity). There is a side slot that will hold extra cables and SD cards. I tried fitting the charger with cords into it and it is too small but I wouldn't carry that around with me anyway. There is dual zipper access which is a great feature and it comes with a detachable shoulder strap and there is also a hand carrying strap on it. This is a nice little compact and protective case that will come in handy while toting around my camcorder!

This product is Ok, but my first camcorder is exactly in this case. Canon Vixia HFR400. Only transport camcorder, impossible batery and other accesories. Maybe is functional for another camcorders. For me, bad bussiness. Merry Cristhmass everybody.
