Overall its a very sturdy, well made case and I would recommend it to anyone!

There are a couple of pouches and pen loops to hold small things, and enough room that I can put my power cord and mouse in this pocket and still zip it up easily.

On days when you don't need to carry your laptop, you can use this space for other things as well.

This boxy shaped laptop case has two compartments, a top handle that is padded and comfortable to grip, and a sturdy enough adjustable shoulder strap. The main compartment opens at the top with two zippers like in a suitcase, has room big enough for up to a 17" laptop that can be secured in place by the single velcro strap in the middle, and the inside pocket can accommodate thin volumes of folders or documents. The slightly smaller front compartment opens at the top with one zipper, and can actually fit a netbook or an ipad if you really have to, but most people would probably just use it for storing documents, laptop accessories or other small portable electronics, as well as other small stuff like pens, etc.

The material is not too shabby but I wish it had more padding. Also, even though the main compartment is touted as appropriate for laptops sized 15" to 17", I personally would use it only for carrying a 17" laptop, because smaller laptops may shift around.

Except for the few concerns mentioned above, I think this laptop case does offer good value for its price.

Although I travel with a heavy-duty, $300+ laptop briefcase there are times when I don't need something that big or tough. When I take my computer to the coffee shop or to my son's house I just want something to protect the finish of the computer and to keep it from slipping out of my hands.

Case Logic makes a wide range of cases and bags, some are medium-duty and some are light-duty. This one kind of fits in-between those classifications. One thing that this case certainly can claim is that it's a great value. I am really impressed with the quality-to-price ratio of this product.

I decided to post a short video review so that you can see it for yourself. I would give it 4 1/2 stars (if we were allowed half stars on Amazon) so I will round it down to 4. I hope that review is helpful to you.

I think the most important thing to say about this laptop bag is that it is extremely inexpensive. You can easily pay more for a cleaning gel for your laptop than you pay for this bag. So if you are using a very inexpensive 17" laptop and are on an incredibly tight budget where every penny counts, this bag could be just what you need. It has light padding that fits around a 17" laptop well. There's an inner pocket to hold a thin folder of paper, and an outside zippered pocket to hold accessories. The outside pocket has nooks for pens and other smaller objects, to keep them organized.

There is both a handle and a shoulder carrying strap.

My concern here is that you'd have to be on an *extremely* tight budget not to want to upgrade your bag to something more sturdy. For example, when I'm traveling with my laptop, my laptop is not an "optional accessory" for me. I absolutely need the laptop to be working smoothly so I can access my email, remote terminal in to my servers, and keep my life running. If that laptop had a system failure because it was bumped or knocked, I'd be in deep trouble. I am willing to invest *far* more than the price of a casual dinner out to protect my laptop.

I would have to think, even imagining someone who was a starving student and they could only afford a run-down laptop worth $200, that for them that laptop would be even more precious, relatively. While I could grumpily buy myself a new laptop if I had to, a starving student would probably be completely out of luck and now face serious hurdles in finishing their schooling. They might be even more in the position where they should get a sturdy laptop bag to safeguard their most precious investment.

Case Logic 16" Laptop Case
This laptop case is made of good quality materials. I did not observe any loose stitches or shoddy materials. It is standard nylon that you'd find on typical laptop cases. There are no bumper pads on the bottom or corner of the case. The case is designed more like a folder brief, where the laptop slips into a pocket that is surrounded by extra foam. There are no Velcro straps or Velcro blocks to secure the laptop. I found my 15.4" and 15.6" widescreen Dell laptops to be sliding around inside the case. It is also prudent to note that this case is not one of the TSA approved cases that allow you to leave your notebook inside while you get processed at airport security.

The shoulder strap is also permanently attached to the case, there are no quick-disconnect clips. The shoulder strap features a crudely fashioned rubber piece that lacks padding. This can cause fatigue especially with heavier loads.

Pros: Lightweight, good construction, easy to access pockets, and plenty of storage.
Cons: Shoulder strap design needs serious improvement, needs securements for laptop

Overall: 3/5 stars

As a writer, I take my laptop with me everywhere (never know when you can squeeze in a few minutes writing). The Case Logic is perfect for me, a Virgo who is obsessed with organization. The case is well-padded but slim and not heavy and too bulky to carry around. Lots of storage space and organization pockets. I much prefer this one over my prior one.
The 25-year warranty isn't bad, either.
