4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, but just a little small
I recently got this bag, and it's pretty good. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's well padded, carries my 15" Macbook Pro, and a Canon 40D with several lenses.

Also as several reviewers have mentioned, it's just a little bit too small... everything fits, but another 1/2" on the computer portion and the camera pouch width would be really nice...

This backpack does its job. Customizable inside so you can arrange it however you want. I out grew this back pack for a couple of reasons. With a rebel XTI vertical battery grip, there designated compartment for camera storage is to small. I tried customizing the lens slots so i could put my camera there, but theres really no way to do it securely.

I recently got this bag, and it's pretty good. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's well padded, carries my 15" Macbook Pro, and a Canon 40D with several lenses.

Also as several reviewers have mentioned, it's just a little bit too small... everything fits, but another 1/2" on the computer portion and the camera pouch width would be really nice.

One thing that other reviewers have not mentioned is that all the internal divers are velcro'd into place, and can be moved. I can even fit my Canon 100-400 zoom attached to the camera if I rearrange the dividers, or leave my normal lens attached to the body and move the lens compartment dividers around to make room for the 100-400 to be carried off the body. Depending on what I'm doing, I'll configure the bag one way or another.

If only everything was 1/2" larger...

Yes, the bag gets heavy, but that's because it's carrying a Macbook Pro, a 40D, several L-glass lenses, and assorted accessories... and it fits under the airline seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for a DSLR hobbyist, April 11, 2007

It is always hard to choose the right gear on a budget, the easiest way to choose is by exploring hands on if you can get to a camera store. This Case Logic Bag is a little tight for my 15" laptop but it is well padded, it fits my Sony F828 well, along with room for my external flash, batteries, lenses and more extras. The stretch chords on the front are practical for holding a small tripod like a gorillapod. I came back to buy it on amazon because it was a third of the stores price.

I have owned this bag for about 2 months. I would agree that the size is a little snug especially for the laptop. However, the bag has ample padding and this I think contributes to the snug feel for the laptop.

The one thing that is not pointed out by the other reviews very well is that once you are in the main compartment you can adjust everything to suit what you want for the layout. This includes the floor of the top camera compartment, which removes (via Velcro) to give you access to the compartment below. I have a Nikon D40x with a 55-200mm lens and I have hung it from the supplied brace and re-adjusted the floor of the camera compartment so that the lens never actually touches the floor of the compartment. Things are a little snug but it works well.

I know that it is plenty weather resistant because I have taken it out in the rain and the inside compartments stayed dry.

This backpack makes you look like a third grader.
nerdiest looking back pack i've ever seen.
At least no one will want to steal it.

This backpack holds my 15 inch Macbook Pro and my lunchbox with no problems. It's a little smaller than my last bag, but it's well made and I foresee no problems with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost there, October 12, 2008

Good bag, some really good design, however if you have a DSLR body with a battery grip, the top pocket where you are supposed to put the camera in is too small for it. Other wise it is easy to use and relatively easy to recompartment it for you needs. It is a value priced item, could use a chest suspension system for more comfort. I also own a Canon backpack, a lowepro 300 series bag and a tamrac expedition 8 bag too. The build quality is on par with the lowepro and I like the laptop design, however you have to carry a compact or subcompact notebook to fit in there. I've put my macbook in there as a tight fit and will not fit my macbook pro 15" unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the price, it cannot be beat, August 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Case Logic SLRC 4 - Backpack For Camera And Notebook (K85724) Category: Camera Bags (Accessory)
Five months ago, I bought a Caselogic EVA Hardshell Camera/ Laptop Backpack in preparation for my first plane ride with the new camera. Before this, I had been using a Targus laptop backpack that my old Canon G5 fit into pretty well, along with my 17" laptop. But when I bought the Olympus E-510 and everything it came with, I needed a bag that was designed for DSLR's and laptops. I searched and searched (see original post), and looked at options all over the price range. I decided that, with the type and frequency of travel I'd be doing, the Caselogic was worth a try.

Since purchasing this bag, I have been on planes to Orlando, Florida and Rochester, New York. I have also been on a camping trip to Lake McConaughy, Nebraska and numerous weekend day trips all over Colorado. It is also my everyday, to and from work bag.

All in all, I am 100% satisfied with this backpack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but small, April 17, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Case Logic SLRC 4 - Backpack For Camera And Notebook (K85724) Category: Camera Bags (Accessory)
All in all the bag looks nice and seems to have a solid build. However there are some significant flaws.

What you cannot see on the picture are all the detachable parts inside. If you take all the mechanism out, it is possible to use this beg as a regular bag, but if you want to use it for its original purpose, it might be problematic.

I am currently traveling with the bag and i have a large camera and a not-so-large laptop. First, the compartment for camera is totally too small. I have Pentax K-10 and it barely fits in. Second, if you need to take any kind of papers with you, it becomes practically impossible to squeeze them in. There is no room in the main compartment, because the upper part of it is used for the camera and there is no room in the computer compartment either.

Also, if without the lens/camera holding mechanism, the bag is of a normal size, when you put the mechanism in, it becomes very bulky and not comfortable to walk around with.

If i had to spend my money again, i would put it elsewhere.

Update: November 2011
*****

Well, since I am still using the bag, i thought I'd update the review.

I still think the bag is small, but it does do the job as a camera only bag. After using it for a while, the compartments have loosened up and the camera does fit now. The bag is pretty durable; I am still using it and the only thing that broke is the tip of one of the sliders on the one of the zippers.

I stand by my statement that there are probably better bags out there, but if you have this one, it does an OK job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes me near and far, March 17, 2008
This review is from: Case Logic SLRC 4 - Backpack For Camera And Notebook (K85724) Category: Camera Bags (Accessory)
This backpack served me well on a recent trip to Mexico. It was big enough to hold all my cords, DSLR and 15" apple laptop, but small enough to stuff into my big backpack while I moved around. Also, it isn't quite so obvious that it is holding all my valuables. I only gave it a four because I felt like the straps were far apart without a cross-body strap to hold them together.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good For Its Stated Purpose Only, December 18, 2007
This review is from: Case Logic SLRC 4 - Backpack For Camera And Notebook (K85724) Category: Camera Bags (Accessory)
While this product never claimed to be more than a camera/laptop carrier, I was very disappointed in how non-adaptable it was for my use. I made a trip to Africa where carrying excess baggage must be kept to a minimum, so this bag had to double as a daypack for me. After the last two trips of trying to keep my cameras and lenses from banging around in a backpack, I thought this bag would be the answer. Having bought it online, I didn't realize how tiny the side pockets are or how short the side straps. I had fully intended, once I arrived at my destination, to leave my computer out for daily use, utilizing the bag for a backpack. What a huge mistake! For five weeks I lugged around a terribly heavy bag which, while a fabulous carrier for my cameras and lenses (though I completely agree with the review about everything feeling as if it were on a 7/8 scale), had absolutely no room for a water bottle, binoculars, and all the other assorted stuff necessary to constantly carry.
