From School Library Journal
Grade 4-6–No sooner have the Taylor-Michaelson family–Nikki, Travis, and their two moms–arrived at their newly renovated Candlestone Inn than the sheriff pays them an unexpected visit. It seems that there has been an art heist of a valuable scarab at a Boston museum, and there is reason to believe that the thief may be on his way to this part of Vermont. The plot quickly thickens when a young hiker with amnesia collapses at their door with a fake scarab in his backpack. As the registered guests begin to arrive, all seem to have some connection to Boston or to Egyptology, and Nikki and Travis must put their sleuthing skills to work to solve a complicated and dangerous mystery. This is the first in a fun, old-fashioned mystery series with a modern-day twist.
